I'm ****ing 22, 160 lbs., and run almost every day. Thanks for your idiotic generalization based on absolutely nothing, though.

I love the notion in this thread that if it makes a LOT of money, it MUST be good.
Any of you ever eat McDonald's? Is their food quality?

^Either that, or the point was that Nintendo doesn't care whether you like it or not, as long as they're making their money. You guys need to get the idiotic idea out of your head that Nintendo cares about you. They care about their profits, your opinion of them and their games is just a side-product.

You don't seem to act 22. Most of us are beyond swearing and getting offended by people on the internet. Besides no offense but 160 at 22 is not that big, lean maybe but not big at all.
I think it would be better to go OUTSIDE or go to a gym. It's a video game so it should be entertainment not for working out. You definitely won't get a full workout by using wiifit. It will burn calories but going outside would have better benefits. But again the game is meant to be enjoyed and whatever exercise you get is a plus. The game looks good but i'm more interested in the board. I may get it but I'll probably end up playing a lot of basketball for a better exercise.

^I think the point of his stating his age was to prove that he is in good health, although that is a common misconception. It is very possible for someone of little weight to be in poor health.

1. Increased profits for Nintendo. Why should you care? That is more money they can use on R&D for this gen and next-gen. It means they can take risks with new IPs you might be interested in. It means they can fund multiple sequels to IPs you do enjoy.

Their profits have nothing to do with our enjoyment. I don't like people just cause of their success, that doesn't make you who you are.

This gives 3rd-party developers way more room to take risks!

but you do have a point there.

I perfer the idea of getting fit by going to a place called OUTSIDE.
He does raise a good point about people needing to get out and get fresh air. But why not have an extra way to exercise. It is proven that people stay and play video games more because of the stimulus it causes. This is a perfect way to make people exercise even if they don't know it. Nintendo is doing its part to help people get out side because Wii Sports suggests to take a break and go outside in between games.

Driving your kid to ballet classes takes priority over going to the gym and doing something for yourself. Cooking dinner for the family takes priority over going outside for a 1 mile jog. I'm not saying that Wii Fit will get you in great shape. But hey, if you can squeeze in even 10 minutes of yoga or a fake jog or heck even hula hooping and get your heart rate going with a game then why not?
And whose to say that folks who have Wii Fit DON'T go to the gym? Maybe they can afford and have the time to do both.
|
That is what some people just cannot seem grasp. WiiFit is not the be all and end all of exercise but it could be a gateway to getting more interested in exercise. It's really not that difficult a concept to understand, if it is then they need Big Brain Academy to exercise their limited minds not WiiFit.

linuxghost's postings on the Wii forum are, for the most part, negative, with generalizations (and insults, profanity) as well. Pretty mature for a 22-year-old. Of course, linuxghost's logic is that his opinion is correct and no one else's is. Typical hypocritical troller...

Wait a minute . . . I thought WiiFit came with a cake! Are you saying there is no cake? But Nintendo KNOWS how much I love to eat a cake before going jogging. Maybe they really don't care about me after all!!

After watching the Wii Fit video off the Nintendo Channel last night, I have to say my impression of it has improved. I might just go ahead and get it.
I'm already pretty fit and am a big advocate for going outside and doing "real" exercise and all that. I don't have any misconceptions about what Wii Fit is or isn't. It's certainly not a fitness panacea.
However, it looks like a cool suppliment and a lot of fun, and it has the ability to add structure and tracking to peoples' work-out, which may help with their discipline. It's biggest shortcoming is that it provides no real means of resistance training, aside from things that use your bodyweight (like pushups).

No, I just have little or no tolerance for sheer idiocy.
An extremely large number of posters on this forum exhibit a complete lack of rational thought, and it drives me insane.
Saying something like, "If you think Wii Fit is stupid, you're probably one of the ones that needs it! LOL!" is a generalization. An incredibly stupid one, at that. Unlike the majority of you, I have no desire to play into Nintendo's money-grubbing scheme with Wii Fit, and will speak out against it all I please, expletives included.
A troll, pfft. Get the hell out.

I did the same thing! Hubby and I watched the video on the Nintendo Channel, and decided to buy it. Unfortunately, all pre-orders are sold out everywhere, except J&R.com and WalMart.com. WalMart will give you a $10 gift card for a future online purchase.
I DID pre-order from Wal Mart, and hoping they didn't oversell the pre-orders. It's been known to happen. You also have to pay up front with WalMart. I loved the fact that Amazon didn't charge until it shipped.
If you are serious about getting it, check your local GameStop to see if they are still doing pre-orders, or pre-order online if it's still available. I didn't really think this one would sell so well, or quickly, but I'm thinking it's going to be tough to get for a while.
