You know what I think?
I think that Nintendo only made this game to sell a bunch of balance boards. I think they know that a lot of people like being physically involved with the games so they said, "heck, if we make a bunch of little simple games for this board, it'll get the popularity of the board up, and we can make a bunch of money." Plus they just wanted to see if people would use the board.
With the success of Wii Fit, I think they figured out people like the board, and you'll see it in more games. Plus, they made a lot of money.
As far as people using it for exercise...I don't know how many of you have actually done those yoga poses, or stretches, etc. but they do give you a decent workout. For those who have been eating poorly and not exercising a lot, a change of diet and the wii fit could help. No, you aren't going to win the world's strongest man competition, but itll help.
Not only will it help, but maybe after people realize exercise is fun, and they feel better when they do it, they may be more inclined to go get that gym membership, or go take a jog in the park.

I perfer the idea of getting fit by going to a place called OUTSIDE. Dont like the bulkiness of a 3$ hoop? Get a 300$ Wii for the same fun!

the game is geared towards casual exercise. and in this day in age. all kids do is sit around on their asses and play games anyways. so why not integrate at least a little fitness into the world of gaming? innovation sells. and nintendo knows that. im pretty sure they know what theyre doing. im pretty sure you wouldnt know anything about fitness if it bit you in the ass anyways

On another note...if you're going to make fun of a game...you should definitely make up your own jokes...

Personally, I think it's a pretty good idea. Anything that promotes getting up and moving around a bit is better than nothing - 20 minutes moving burns more calories than 20 minutes sitting. Sure, heading outside and moving around - playing basketball, running, walking, etc. - on a regular basis is the ideal, but there are folks that just will not do that kind of thing. Or as others have mentioned, they may not have the opportunity to do so.
I can understand that some people don't like it at all, and that's fine. Don't buy it! But at the same time, don't berate those of us who *do* like it. I may not like your favorite game, but I would have enough courtesy to not berate you for liking it. The whole live and let live concept, which unfortunately a dying idea...
I've got a pre-order for Wii Fit and I'm really looking forward to it. For the record, I've got some baby weight to lose, but I already walk/jog 3+ miles a day 4-5 times a week (pushing a double jogging stroller to boot), I eat healthy, I try to move around as much as I can... I don't expect it to turn me into a swmisuit model, but I'm looking at it as a supplement to what I already do. I like to change up my routine a bit, and I think the different exercises/games will give me some variety. And since I'm one of those people who does better when I see that I'm making progress, I think the progress tracker on Wii Fit will motivate me to keep going.
And as mentioned already...judging by the number of places that have sold out of their pre-orders - and it's still a week a half before release date - LOTS of other people must not think it's such a bad idea...
Cheers

No, trust me it really is a work out. I got it today and it's fun but makes you work at the same time. I need to gain some weight though as I'm currently in the underweight are.

yeah, even game devs!! that's why devs are just now developing for wii when kick ass games should have been made around the release of the wii, not just MP3
