automatic refers to automatic drifting, and manual you always have to press the B button

well you probably aren't using a kart with good handling. I prefer using the flame runner bike because it goes fast and has excellent turning. Also, setting the drift mechanic to manual makes it a lot easier to drift.

And no offense, but I can't stand it when people use the word "hella" because it sounds really retarded.

If steering isn't precise enough for you, try using the Wiimote/nunchuck. The Wii wheel is more fun, but the Wiimote/nunchuck is more precise; you have to make compromises.

its fun no doubt and the controll takes some used to; how do you hold your wheel? in front of you kinda down or at an up angle?i havent found a truely comfortable position regarding this. but good game. if i could comfortaby manage to controlls more id say its up there with the better mario kart titles ive played, but u cant comepare any there all nice.

It actually does. I've tried it vertically and horizontally, and both weren't as responsive as holding it at an angle. I also saw a video where the guy demonstrating the game said the wheel was designed to be held at an angle.
