I doubt they will not be compatable. It most likely refers to a pedal being added, which GH3 has a port on the guitar for this to be added. Also the GT:A guitar is identical to the GH3 Guitar, it would be a huge blunder to not make them compatible.

I just read the latest Game Informer and I really like what it says about Guitar Hero IV.

-old controllers will work fine with GHIV
-new controllers have special feature(GI speculates this is for improvs/solos maybe the ability to do slides)
-will compete head-to-head with Rock Band by adding drums & vox
-drums are much sturdier and more silent than Rock Band's (they show pics)
-all peripherals will be wireless including the
-art-direction is better(my opinion from looking at screens. much better than III)
-classic characters are still available
-create your own character
-create your own axe
-create your own music (this is in the PS2/Wii versions also but you might not have access to the youtube-like service they are gonna have
-career-mode is open-ended so you don't have to play songs you can't stand. you don't have to play the same songs over and over and over like Rock Band so they claim their career mode is much better
-tracklist will be larger than any previous GH game
-all tracks are masters
-they want to keep the tracks secret but did admit to Van Halen, Sublime, Eagles and...

And Dream Theater!!! That alone makes my day!!! Man I hope they get Tool also. There has always been rumors of Tool throwing down and that would be sick....the drums, bass, and guitars would all be a blast!!!

i hope so. they have not announced any songs yet. they just mentioned a couple of bands. they want to keep it a secret for as long as they can. i'd love for some zep, floyd, and doors to be oh gh!

dude, waiting for the sun and riders on the storm would be awesome. the cool thing about doors is that they didnt have a bassist. the pianist created the bass sounds. now that is cool.
