The downloadable content for FFCC is bull though. They could've easily been included in the base game. If they released, say, some sort of expansion pack that brought a cluster of new features to the game, and charged like 500 wii points for that, that's great. But paying for an extra house? An alternate costume? They must be joking.

If by garbage you mean 3 added races and ~20 dungeons then you are correct. However, I would have to say the only garbage DLC are the costumes, everything else adds to the longevity. Plus the fact that you can pick and choose and not have to pay some high price for a bundle makes it all the better. And the only "simple" thing is creating your town, which just makes it accessible. You still need to strategize if you don't want to continuously get defeated, some dungeons are even undefeatable without the right mix of classes.

downloable content should be for things that couldnt make it into the game because of time issues.

On that basis then I would have to agree, everything COULD of been included. I would imagine it wasn't possibly because of the space limitations. But some added bonus sprinkled on top (albeit AT launch) is better than them not trying at all, like their previous systems.
