I recently got a PS3. Loving it. Still love my Wii.
That's true, even though i don't get what your title means(is that a bad thing??)
My dad's in Syd and Step-dad doesn't play games. But every now and again i can play with my mum, which is really fun sometimes-yeah she's no good, but it's fun when i beat her with my stuffed(stick randomally pulls my charactor to the right/left when i move it) gamecube controller. And the battle modes can really be a load of fun with her.

that's awesome, man. your post really exemplifies nintendo's purpose with this console: a truly fun, family-oriented good time. kudos to nintendo for doing its job; kudos to your and your dad for making sure of it.
You -can- turn items off for local multiplayer in Mario Kart Wii.
And Computers.
And then, the lame comeback, you could always get a 360/PS3.
But that's a horridly lame comeback. But still great if you go that way.
PS3
I'm just saying, I would have liked MK Wii a bit more if it weren't for the ridiculously overpowered weapons. What's the point in even having competitive online play against strangers when some races are basically down to how lucky you are?
Oh yes, and I already own a 360. I wish the Wii had followed its example for online play.

HOWEVER (omg!),
It is NOT fun if you get hit with a blue shell 2 times in a row (WT freakin' F...), get hit with a lightning bolt soon afterwards, and then getting pegged with a red shell... AFTER the POW block.
That had to be my worst time ever...
It IS fun when you get the Thundercloud... all the AI's start staying away from you. Then, when you stop to wait for one of them, the whole race just stops.
Yeah, it might be a laugh amongst friends, but should good players really be punished for being good?

Amen to that.

Sure on Luigi Circuit and Mushroom Gorge and other similar simple tracks luck is a factor, but to say it comes down to luck on all the courses is completely wrong. Otherwise we'd all be stuck at 5000. =P
Luck is a factor in all games, whether you like it or not.
i played with my mum just a few hrs ago on koopa kage..she couldnt get round he track for love nor money but i slowed down to tha back of the pack and we had a absoulute hoot playing then crashing and blowing other players up with shells and bomb...i two never realised how much FUN mario kart wii could be...

honestly i don't think the wepons are rigged at all in Wi-Fi battles.
im a good racer cause i've gotton a star in all the cups but im only 6k points
Really i can race a person with 7k points and come 2nd, just because his better.. Think to the fact that i saw 2 blue shells and i shot 3 red shells at that person. He was still a few seconds infrount of me...
IF you don't like that fact that the games' wepons are rigged, then don't play it. Get another game
SO in other words, GET OVER IT!!!!!
