Peter Moore, former XBox360 division leader at Microsoft and current big cheese at EA Sports made some important announcements earlier this month. EA Sports is currently designing a new exercise game for the Nintendo Wii - similar in scope to Wii Fit produced by Shigeru Miyamoto. It will be designed to use the balance board, but implement a more rigorous training regimen than Wii Fit.
"We also need to make sure we're delivering something that's truly exercise," Moore exclaimed. "I'll call [Wii Fit] more eastern fitness, where it senses weight and balance, like Tai-Chi. It's more about holistic fitness. I don't think the board is going to take a pounding. We need to look more at western fitness in which I can actually be moving and start to sweat a little bit, and that's what we're working on right now."
No specifics about the game were mentioned, and Moore's treatment of this new game didn't seem like they had anything solid at the moment. "We need to look more at western fitness in which I can actually be moving and start to sweat a little bit, and that’s what we’re working on right now. It can’t feel like a workout. We need to distract people and not make this exercise feel like work, but like they’re having fun. So mini-games, things where you’re actually laughing out loud, that’s the stuff we’re working on."
The best guess is to expect lots of mini-games designed to stimulate different rounds of exercise. We'll bring you more details on EA's new exercise game as soon as they emerge.

It would be cool to have a surfing or skateboarding game with the balance board, but I'm not sure how the bb works, so that might not work.

The balance board will work great for surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding games etc so i'd expect a few to be in the works (we already know 10 games are being developed for the board). Skate It is already confirmed to be balance board compatible and We Ski is already out. For boarding games you would simply turn it sideways to give you the correct stance and lean to turn like you would on a normal board.
It has great potential so hopefully some decent games with some depth to them will be released. Loving Wii Fit at the moment though.
Isn't the EA exercise game old news though? I'm sure i heard about it weeks ago on here.

I like this idea
I love working out on the Fit today but I can tell it will not make me sweat like a gym workout and I am not complaining as I didn't expect it to. I expected just what I got which is an excellent fitness game/board that allows me to become more flexible and get some exercise every day even if just for 15-20 minutes at home
But, if EA Sports want to take a try at a more extreme game, I am up for it

if they make any more balance board games it might be the greatest selling peripheral for any console.

This is good news that their will be more variety but EA is a company that is releasing dud after dud. Madden and NCAA football really are not much different than 10 years ago. Tiger Woods is always the same. EA Playground and Boogie were horrible efforts.
I like the fact that another developer is going to make an exercise program but with EA, I suspect it wil be mediocre at best.
All I can say is they need to have all the exercises open from the beginning and have the option for 30 - 60 minuts workouts that target different areas. Wii Fit is too open for many people IMO. It would certainly be worthwhile to add the option for more defined workouts.
