Just for the record, it has always been my experience when I have gained wait and want to drop pounds that weighing yourself daily is a bad idea. Weight loss is not linear. I have always found it better to weigh myself once a week.
I am afraid some people (based on posts i have read) make comments like "I have lost 3 lbs in 2 days of Wii fit." They could have just as easily gained three lbs. Your weight will fluctuate during the day.ean
If you do weight yourself daily, just realize that your weight is going to jump up and down. You are looking for slow steady weight loss over a period of time.

Being female, I learned tons by weighing myself everyday for a month. Hormones can do insane stuff with your weight. Understanding how my weight fluctuated depending on the time of month(watches all the guys tune out now) helps me not freak when I suddenly jump five pounds in two days.

This also gave me pause. I work for a magazine that teaches healthy living and I know we've addressed daily fluctuation in weight before. I'm pretty sure that I saw somewhere in Wii Fit something warning that the weight measurements can be off give or take a couple of pounds. Right? Did anyone else see that? I may be imagining things.
I know someone whose mood each day depends on what their scale said that morning. Those are the folks who should really be careful.

^I wouldn't expect it, the Balance Board is one of the most accurate scales on the market, so I've heard. As it should be after noting its pricetag. However, they could have written that just to cover their ass.
You have no idea how proud of you I am, dean. *tears streaming down face*
Seriously, not many people understand this concept. Weight fluctuates irregularly due to many different factors, the major one being water retention. Weighing yourself once a week will give you a more accurate benchmark. However, make sure that you weigh yourself at the same day and time every single week, preferably in the morning. The easiest way to assure this is to assign a day of the week in which you will weigh yourself right after your post-sleep piss/poop, making sure not to eat first. In rare cases, a weekly measurement can even be misleading and you may need to increase to a two week routine.

Wow, I'm actually going to agree with Dean-o on something.
He's right. You aren't supposed to weigh yourself everyday
Water intake, fluctuations, dehydration etc. It can lead to a person being OC about weight if they take what they see seriously everyday. I can easily fluctuate 3 lbs a day depending on when I take my test.
On the other hand they do ask you to take the test everyday at the same time if you can. That should eliminate *most* variables.

It does warn you that your weight can change +- 2lbs during the day if you weigh yourself at a very different time to the last weigh-in.
I suppose if you weigh yourself every day you begin to see the pattern of how your weight fluctuates, although weighing yourself every week would be just as good?

My only point is some people lose their motivation after working out and see they have gained weight.
I am not touching the female hormones, etc.
The program does say water weight fluctuates 2lbs a day on average. Of course more or less for other people.

Just for the record, I had to go to the MD yesterday and my weight showed up as being 2 lbs heavier at the MDs office but I was also dressed in business casual with waller and cellphone in pocket so I do think the scale is dead on at least with my medium carpet and the extensions.
Any scale you buy at the stores almost always seems to read lighter than you reall are. Maybe that makes them sell better.

Yes, it says something about fluctuating about 2 lbs during the day and that you should try to weigh yourself at the same time during the day.

OK -- I completely agree that you should not weigh yourself every day -- but didn't anyone else get chastised by it's wii?
When re-weighed the next day (and at a different time of day) -- I was about a 1.5 lb heavier (if I remember right). So, then the wii forced me to choose which overeating category I had succumbed to. There was a choice of "I don't know", so I chose that. Then it said, well, your weight will fluctuate up to 2 pounds according to the time of day -- well, no kidding -- so why wasn't that one of my choices? Now when I point to that spot on my chart -- it brings up the "I don't know" excuse for gaining weight that day.
Hasn't anyone else encountered this? After that, I decided I would only weigh myself once a week as other weight loss programs suggest.

I havent tried it yet but I wondered what happen if I put my 4 year on it for when it wants to weight me. What does the Wii say when you lost 100lbs in one day? Surely it would have some comment.
it would probably just tell me I am losing weight a too rapid of pace.
