News on Animal Crossing on the wii

Hi everybody. Last week i e-mailed nintendo asking about animal crossing for the wii and have just received this reply

"Dear Ms. King, thank you for your email.

There certainly will be an Animal Crossing game made for Wii, and it will have a lot of extra features to make it the best Animal Crossing yet! Unfortunately, there are currently no details about the game’s development or content, although it should be available by Christmas this year. I would expect that some new details will be revealed in Nintendo’s press conference in early July. I have also included an interview with the game’s lead edesigner, Katsuya Eguchi:

Question: How is work on Animal Crossing for Wii progressing and what can we expect from the final product?
Katsuya Eguchi answers: Right now we’re currently considering our options in terms of what we can do with the various features of the controller and through WiiConnect24. With regard to the controller, basically it could become potentially your axe, your shovel and your fishing rod. You can imagine what can happen there. Again, we don’t know if this will happen for sure because it’s kind of a trial and error process. With regard to WiiConnect24, you could have someone visit your town even when you weren’t actively playing and maybe leave you a letter or a gift [while your Wii is in standby mode, so the Wii’s blue light might start blinking]. Also, through Wi-Fi Connection, players could play simultaneously.

Question: Is Animal Crossing for Wii in a state now where it’s playable, or is it still in concept form?
Katsuya Eguchi answers: We’re still just hammering out the concepts. It’s not playable yet.

June 2006: Katsuya Eguchi hinted in a video interview that in-game connections to mobile phones and PCs (for basic functions such as messages) would be included in Animal Crossing Wii. To quote: “Another application might be someone could send a letter from their cellphone or from an email address on a PC to the Wii, and then the player living in the town in Animal Crossing could receive that letter.”

Hitting on Wii to DS compatibility he said: “There probably will be Friend Codes for the Wii version, however, we’re not so sure about [DS] compatibility. So it’s most likely that everyone will be using new codes.”

Nintendo is usually never on their word about delivering a game on time. Expect this to be out by Summer of 2009.

Sounds interesting indeed, and this could still arrive for Christmas. The game was supposed to appeal to the hardcore and casual player, massive online play = hardcore, the rest of the game = casual. I certainly hope the game Reggie was talking about isn't Kid Icarus because if it appeals to the casual players then it won't be as good as it could have been.

We will hear info about it at E3 though (Animal Crossing and Kid Icarus), Animal Crossing is something I am really looking forward to though.

I can't wait until December. When I first got Animal Crossing for my Gamecube a few years ago, I was hooked. When Animal Crossing DS came out, once again I was hooked. This new version sounds amazing, and I hope it's good!

what sort of price can i expect to pay for animal crossing on gamecube?
i have never played the series but everyone seems to say how good it is all the time

It really is quite the game, I found myself playing the GameCube game much longer than I thought I had. You don't even release how long you've been playing because theres so much to do. I would even buy it if it just had online play and was similar to the GameCube version.

You should probably expect to pay around $29.99 for that game used.

It's a player's choice now. I don't know UK currency but used I'd say $14.99 and new would be $19.99

if it's done by december i wont be playing it
they need to put more effort into it, like they did with brawl

If they're expecting that with their combined effort and concepts, that it will be done in December, they're putting in a large amount of effort. It means they have alot of cool ideas they want to have plenty of time to perfect, so they don't just slop some game together and call it Animal Crossing.

It's been in development since the last of year of teh GameCube or just in the first year of Wii. They've had plenty of time to perfect things and put all that they wanted to into it. December could just be a placeholder but Christmas is still awhile away so..

The game is going to be great. The q it's going to be in is still questionable but we'll find out sooner or later. Until then we're pretty much forced to play our old GC and DS versions.
