“Honestly, I think the lack of AAA titles also has a lot to do with a lot of the 3rd parties simply being caught with their pants down. Triple A take a lot of time to develop; Many years in fact. For them to have been announced/released by now, it would have meant that they were in development/planning before/shortly after the Wii was released. However, nobody, besides Nintendo, expected the Wii sales to be so strong, and anyone who did should be buying lottery tickets.
However, the good news is, now that the industry has seen the rise of the Wii, I’m sure many plans and budgets have been shifted and adjusted, and triple A titles should be in their pipeline (though not ready to be announced). This means soon, you should be flooded with the titles from the franchises you’re familiar with, and ones that aren’t just spinoffs.
Have a little patience and faith in the little white console that could. I know I am. ‘Lost’” - Community Specialist of Capcom Entertainment

There certainly is validity to these words. Twilight Princess alone took years to create and went through many tweaking/perfection processes. The same goes for Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3. It definitely is likely that AAA titles are in development if you’re a believer in this type of development process.

Well I am a firm believer in this myself, people asked and have been asking where the good games are. It was only realized last year that developers had been wrong about the Wii and promised better efforts and better looking games. Those games take time to make though, 2-3 years and we won't see this until 2009/2010. Games like The Conduit and MadWorld are steps in the right direction and its only bound to get better.
Thoughts?

Yeah i agree i think in general there have been less casual play added into more hardcore games. There is more of the same casual games but at least they are separate. I don't understand what AAA means.

Same thing I have been sayign from the start. Nintendo expected to do well specially among its fans and the "new gamers" but I doubt even they expected to pick up a good chunk of the casual gamers market.
Now with almost 50% of the consoles on the market between 3 consoles, 3rd party woudl be down right stupid to not make good games for the Wii, Specially when you see the crazy high sales that Nitnendo is getting with it's 1st party titles.
A few things could change this outcome, if PS3 and Xbox do some crazy price drops before the bigger games hit the Wii they could snatch up some of the casual audience aswell "you know the 100 million of the 120 million PS2 owners".
I doubt they will get below Wii price in that time frame, or that Wii will not match the price drops so it's iffy. Casual gamers usually buy the games not the consoles, they could care less about the consoles specs. And normally when casualy picks a console they stick with it, you always see one console outdoing the rest by huge numbers "the casual console" although it's a little early to say for sure Nintenod has a great head start and better games ont he way, if it all pans out and they get the good 3rd party titles it will lock them in with casual for this generation.

THat's a good point. I don't think these analysts think about the general public which is why they have been wrong thus far. Plus they're video game analysts. They suck.

not to be pessimistic but as brandon said, we wont see those games till 2009/2010 so wouldnt it be kind of late as the new generation will have begun (maybe) or it would very soon be beginning.

The Wii's not going anywhere soon. Remember, Nintendo are the only console manufacturer that actually MAKE money when someone buys one of their consoles.
Any price-drop from sony or microsoft would not only hurt themselves most (lose even more money per sale), but it could also be easily matched by Nintendo.
As for triple-A titles, we've already seen what can happen with good development, maybe 2 or 3 years worth - just look at any of the Nintendo releases for example. It's not just because "they made the console so they know all the tricks" - most devs enjoy tackling problems and finding little optimisations they can use and learning the ideosyncracies of a particular platform - it's just Nintendo has had a couple of years headstart.
The 3rd parties that are putting effort into wii releases (not so much the mini-game/jenga makers) are a bit behind, but they're catching up fast.

Well they are starting to trickle in now, I expect a few to hit for christmas time and to have a steady flow there after. I would say late 2008 and 2009 on up for sure. you have to remeber the Wii didn't reach beyond "fad" status untill it still sold out its second christmas in a row and started hitting record game sales. With most big budget games taking anyware from 9-18 months to make that means we should be getting some of the games in the fall from the ones early to see the Wii's dominace.
Even then we got a few years left of good games, Microsoft isn't due for a new console untill late 2010 to 2011 time and Nintendo should be in the 2011 to 2012 range for a new console. Who knows about Sony they are probably still hoping the PS3 will pick up alot and last another 8 years or more. A lot of games can come out in the next 2-4 years.

bout time!
wouldnt wii have a faster development because of graphic limitation. the control might take some getting used to but u would think fps wouldnt be that difficult. im actually not disappointed about the amount of titles the wii has but agree that most of the great titles are developed by nintendo.
i think the main problem is that these other developers flooding the shelfs with crappy wii titles. not to say that ps3 n 360 dont have crap but just because wii doesnt have the best graphics doesnt mean they should make games that look and feel like crappy super nintendo games with motion controls.

Now that devs know Wii is here to stay and the top seller, they will support it. Dev cycles will also be much shorter for Wii and cost less money so there should be some great stuff next year. Dev cycles on 360/PS3 are insane. 3-4 years for most games.
E3 should be awesome this year!!!
Tenchu is looking killer!!! Monster Hunter will absolutely pwn!!!

This theory makes more sense than any other crap I've heard.
Do I think that a few AAA titles are in production? Sure. Do I think we're going to be 'flooded' with them in years to come? Hell no, that's an exaggeration.

Well I wouldn't say flooded but I do expect there to be a good number, close the number Nintendo dishes out in one year. We won't have a couple of game free months or months with nothing worth playing, there will better things to play all year.
