Christian Svensson, Capcom’s Sr. Director of Strategic Planning & Research has been providing Nintendo fans with tons of details about the company and possible upcoming details the past few weeks. Today was no exception, as Svensson once again divulged quite a bit of new information. First, some of you may remember Dead Phoenix, a game that Capcom showed off for the GameCube years ago. The game drew many comparisons to Kid Icarus, but eventually, the game slid under the radar and was canned. A good portion of the gaming community hoped for the revival of the game, perhaps by partially remolding the game as we knew it. Unfortunately, it looks like not even this is possible. Said Svensson, “As far as CEI resurrecting it, frankly, we have enough things on our plate at the moment and enough ideas in the pipeline that we don’t need to be going back to that well.”
Additionally, we found out a few months back that Monster Hunter 3 was canceled for the PS3 and moved to Wii. The main reason that we heard about seemed to be relate to high development costs of creating a PS3 title, yet Svenson has noted, “It was a strategic decision set by the team and our Japanese management to address an emerging market on the Wii. At the time the decision was made, it was in reference to the Wii market in general, no particular sub-segement thereof.” So, the idea of saving money was definitely a motivating factor, but the fact that the Wii has been a dominant force in the gaming market seemed to influence the decision significantly, too.
The last bit of information concerns Dead Rising. Many fans of the game were enamored with the game since literally everything in the environment is capable of becoming a tool for destruction. Don’t get any quick ideas that the game will be coming to the Wii, however. Unlike Okami, there are no plans for a Dead Rising remake for the Wii (or any news on the game at all for that matter). Although, it is interesting to know that there would be no legal issues with releasing Dead Rising on a different platform, as Christian Svensson explained on the Capcom community forums.

Dead Rising was alright, can't really see it on the Wii myself, but a project similar to it might be good.

Dead Rising would work horrible on the Wii. Especially since the game had a higher resolution than 480p. You want a zombie game for Wii, play Escape From Bug Island.

I know there's no zombies in the game, but that's as close as they'd get to Dead Rising (excluding the Resident Evil games.). Also, what's been put in bold is a true statement if Dead Rising was to be 'ported' onto the Wii. Be thankful they're at least getting Fatal Frame.

Kamikaze Dead Rising's graphics on 360 really weren't that great to begin with. They got the job done ,but thats about it. To me i thought Dead Rising control wise was kind of clunky. Don't get me wrong its a decent game ,and i own it i just think the simpleness of the Wii-mote ,and nunchuck would of made Dead Rising a much more intutive experience. If you got a gun off a zombie cop you would be able to easily aim ,and shoot. Then quick tap of the Dpad switch to a baseball ,and swing away on some zombies.
Dead Rising Wii was something i was really hoping for. I haven't even played thru the 360 one as the controls, the eye straining text ,and the difficulty have put me off from it for a while.

The eye straining text was simply because you weren't playing on an HD television set. Dead Rising is a mediocre game, but some games shouldn't be ported, and this is one of the games that shouldn't. Many games can sound promising with motion control, by ways of us explaining it. Hell, I can make Heavenly Sword sound great if it had been on the Wii (with the exception of a huge frame rate issue making the game become horrendous.). If Dead Rising was to get ported to another system, it would do much better on the Playstation 3 and even the PC. Simply because they wouldn't have to water down the graphics and frame rate, they can simply fix the problems that the game had (such as lack of save points, the whole text issue, etc.). Also, Dead Rising's resolution is 720p, so if you think that's horrible...then can you imagine on what it'd look like on the Wii?
It would look like this at best:
Also, compare to how the actual Dead Rising game looks:
Now, sure the graphics may not be realistic. But if you notice how many characters can be conducted on screen at the same time, the Wii doesn't even have the processing power to hold something like that. So please, leave the fan boy dreams elsewhere.

Hells yeah. Please send your job application to Capcom of Japan. And good luck, for both of our sakes.
