i'd be hard pressed to find an fps fan who isn't comfortable with the mouse. my guess is that you haven't indulged in many pc shooters =/
|
I have played my fair share, I just don't like them compared to all of the other types of controls.
It takes practise to get good at play FPS on the wii, but once you get the hang of it, you will never want to go back. But the main reason I hate PC shooters is the turning.

lol, this game reminds me of Half-Life. That boss in the gameplay trailer looks alot like an Antlion Gaurdian, and judging by the storyline I've read about for this game, I'm kinda expecting a G-Man-esque character...
Kinda going back a few pages, I don't see how this game looks like a rip off of Halo and Resistance...How?
Halo always looked like a rip off of Unreal Tournament to me with a story mode and the only Resistance like thing I've seen is the Aliens on steroids, which really isn't anything new, at all. I mean honestly, WTF

just wondering..
how long will this game be in develoment for compared to a 360 Fps like gears of war, warhawk ect.
.
I think that the major point to this game that would improve it is online or split screen multiplayer, and i dont think that split screen is happening.
so hopefully if they make the multiplayer experience as competitive as other 360 fps's then this would be a must buy, without it the replay value would be like moh:2 which in my opinion didnt have a good online. i thought the EA nation was good but the online gameplay was boring IMO.
.
i'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good split screen mode though (which would be hard to make with the wii's controls).
after watching a few video's i think that this is actually comparible to a 360 game graphics wise and especially considering it's got 9 more months of production.
o, and do you think there would be the slightest possibility for co-op campaign split screen in this game??? its a bit of a long shot but hay... its possible.

I think what could work well is having player 1 control movement with his pointer and be able to shoot like normal, but also let player 2 shoot and pick up weapons, but not control movement, a bit like mario galaxy, this should allow 2 people to play without having to split the screen or double the resources needed, and correct me if i'm wrong, but seems to be the general idea behind coop in COD5 on wii.

which would be closer to what would happen when shooting a real gun.
i dunno about you, but any time ive shot a gun (which i have done quite a bit, .22 9mm and a magnum) i didnt rest the gun on a flat surface.
people bitch and moan about getting reality in to games, and they worship the ps3 and its graphical realism, but bring realism to the controls and people start bitching about precision and not being able to hold it stable for long periods of time.

At most this game could have 7 months of production left. I has a Q1 release remember.

yeh i guess that could be alright, better than nothing :P. but nothing compared a split screen one if they could get split screen right. i guess our highest hope would be two cursors on one screen though .

o, righto. still alot of time for the "polishing up" stage though, i think this game will look as good as a few 360 games. i was comparing this game to other 360 games on IGN earlier and i think it has the potential to look as good, aslong as they increase the detail throughout the game which they will surly do.

Well all HVS is doing right now is polishing and working on the online features. So basically about 6 months of polishing for the single player mode.

right so it should really have some great graphics even though its on the wii, there is so much more other companies can do for the wii, it just takes a little longer and a little more work but its worth it. rather than having cartoon style games all the time. and as for the online play, it better be really good... like halo 3 online was pretty sweet, the way they had the lobby and the rankings and everything, if we have to use those gay friend codes ill kill someone... it better be random and then you can become friends like on halo..... plus im still pissed off about the splitscreen :P

I think head tracking should be used in games, but this game is wrong for it.

It would be sweet for a boxing game...or in fps' you could use that to look around and duck behind cover...but turning around wouldn't work.

another info that conduit will be featured at PAX...by nintedo. i think this means that it could be poublished by nintendo.
High Voltage Software has announced that The Conduit, a fast paced First-Person Shooter currently in development for Wii console, will be featured by Nintendo at this year’s PAX convention. The Conduit is a First-Person Shooter where players battle fierce alien invaders in a highly detailed 3D world using a dynamic control scheme only possible on Wii.
Eric Nofsinger, Chief Creative Officer at High Voltage Software, had this to say about the news, “PAX is jam-packed wall-to-wall with passionate game fans. We are incredibly honoured to be featured there at Nintendo's booth. It's a fantastic opportunity for us to receive input and feedback directly from other gamers.”
The Conduit made a big splash at this year’s E3 convention. High Voltage Software received numerous awards and press recognition. Kerry Ganofsky, founder and C.E.O. of High Voltage Software, commented on the attention, “We are honoured and overjoyed to have our efforts recognized. To be acknowledged by the industry news media shows that the hard work of our team has not gone unnoticed and only strengthens our resolve to continue to push our game play, graphics, and the technical boundaries of the hardware’s capabilities.”

I don't think that means they are the publisher. There is a good chance, but that would make this a 2nd party title and would probably not show anything to 3rd party developers.

Look at this from the ign review of house of the dead 2 & 3 return:
'What House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return does accomplish, however, is the offering of the strongest Wii IR we've seen in a gun game thus far, as the cursor is quick and responsive, and the IR calibration sights the Wii remotes in perfectly. For some reason we've yet to see other companies (Nintendo included) put in an advanced calibration mode for the Wii remote in any game, and for a while we assumed it was just too complex to do in general. House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return proves that it isn't a matter of technical limitations, but just a lack of attention to detail, as a quick shot in the corner of the screen instantly syncs the Wii remote's pointer perfectly with the intended position on the TV. You can even do it mid-game for either player. Return might not be an award-winning port package due to a lack of depth and a few technical issues in HotD3, but it'll go down in Wii history as the first IR game that got it right. Kudos, SEGA, the standard has been set.'
As far as i can tell calibrating it in this way (like you would a light gun on one of the older systems) means that the cursor goes exactly where the wiimote is pointing, which would greatly improve FPS games like the conduit, the only drawback is that you have to aim precisely for a target every time you start the game.
