I never once said it would "fail terribly."

In fact, I bet I'll really enjoy the game, especially its online aspect.

But the entire "hardcore" Wii community views this game as the holy grail of Wii gaming, and I really think everyone is blowing it out of proportion to a massive degree.

Will it be a good game? Undoubtedly. Any game with so much TLC put into it by a developer is bound to be at least GOOD.

Will it be an AMAZING game? Probably not. It looks too cheesy, too amateurish in parts.

I think that The Conduit will be taking 1st place in the First-Person-Shooter game for the wii because the other ones, as great as they are, didn't really give that ablity to edit the feel of the controls to what you like, which is one of the high lights i can't wait to mess with, then you having to adapt to the way with another game. Now adapting isn't the problem but adapting to those really crap controls and just getting frustrated with them. So other then the graphics getting better for the wii but to change the controls themself from the motion of the wii mote to the buttons is just another step to make the wii better and hoping that other compainies pick this up as well.

Nihilism nailed it; there are far too many cases of games with a ton of hype pre-release that end up being SERIOUSLY underwhelming. In my opinion, The Conduit looks like it will end up this way.

And for those of you saying I "hate" the Wii, you couldn't be more wrong. I really enjoy the Wii and think it has some fantastic games. I occasionally consider rebuying one for a handful of them, namely the up-and-comers Monster Hunter 3, Sadness, Tenchu 4, etc.

But the fact of the matter is, a huge portion of you guys are so disillusioned by the Wii that it sickens me. You'll latch onto any game with any HINT of worthwhile gameplay and absolutely beat it to death, and it's frustrating to me, being someone who actually desires QUALITY games, which are in such short demand on the Wii.

And remick, it ultimately doesn't matter what the "company" says their marketing tactic is.

If a company produces a car that looks, sounds, and feels exactly like a Porsche, people are going to compare it to a f*cking Porsche.

Even a simple glance at the wiki for Wii shows it's a 7th generation console, competing directly with the PS3 and 360.

A video game console is a video game console, period. Having gimmicky motion controls and subpar graphics doesn't mean it warrants its own sector of the market.

Furthermore, it's not exactly "trolling" if one makes valid points consistently, now is it?

I seriously think you are a pessimist. There is a chance that the Conduit could be bad in some departments, but there's a chance of that in every game. Its just that this game really gives hope that there can be good third-party efforts on the Wii. That's why we want it to succeed.

So what if obsess over the game? We can all hope, we can all dream, so please let us. The Conduit gives us all something to look forward to, and the way you talk about makes it sound like sh*t, and that hoping for it is a waste of time.

I highly doubt The Conduit will be a bad game. The question is whether it will be a great game.

well, high voltage knows we have our eyes on them and they've got some high expectations to meet. IMHO, i think they would've released the game already if they didn't have the spotlight.

Which technically is a good thing since if they had released it already it wouldn't be half as good as it is already now. Plus they're gonna work on it for more 5+ more months.

Well I'll be getting a car around the release date, which will drain the money right out of my savings account, but I think I can squeeze out 50 bucks for this on launch day. You know, the question isn't IF I will get it, But WHEN.

I'm about where you are. This game will be a purchase if only to support the 3rd party devs. Just to be sure on this (because I haven't been following news on this game too well), is wiispeak confirmed? Are they going to find a way around the friend codes (like MoH:H2)? Are online leaderboards, rankings, etc. all confirmed?
