Yeah mostly because of the music creator and the better soundtrack.

I wouldn't say better soundtrack. (IMO of course) But the Music Creator is the determining factor for me. If those wii remote RB2 converters work, I may pick up just the RB2 game then.

They sell RB2 remote converters? Where did you hear about them?

And supposedly the GHIII controller will work with rock band 1 and 2.... no word on the drums yet... http://www.joystiq.com/Instrument-Compatibility-Matrix/

Hello, just joined and this is my first post, apologies for hijacking this thread. My son wants 'guitar hero' for his 7th birthday. 2 older boys in our street have guitar hero 3 which he likes but admits it's too hard for him. There are obviously earlierer versions, are they easier? How many are there, the original and then 2, 3 and 4? Does the 'guitar' come with all of them? Grateful for any help/advice thanks

Yes there are earlier versions but I didn't find them much easier or much harder. There are however different difficulty setttings to make the game less difficult. Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert. Have your son start on easy and work his way up. I believe there is Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s, Guitar Hero III, and Guitar Hero Aerosmith. However, the only ones available for the Wii are Guitar Hero III, Guitar Hero Aerosmith, and of course the newest Guitar Hero IV World Tour when it's released. Guitar Hero III, Aerosmith, and World Tour all have bundles that include a Wii guitar.

I just pre-ordered which I never do. I usually wait for the reviews, especially for 190 bucks! Oh well, I'll be banging on drums This Sunday.

Are the drums going to be available for Wii right away? Everywhere I have looked to purchase I have seen guitar/game bundles and game only, but nothing with drums. (Not for Wii anyway)

Also, has anyone heard whether GHWT instruments are going to be compatible with RB2? I have heard no, but then I also read that it was still up in the air and there was still a possiblilty...

they better be since I am expected to pay 190 bucks for the Wii version! I acutally pre-ordered from blockbuster of all places. I was there renting a game and saw the pre-order, they had two slots left so I signed up.

Well, that gives me hope then...I have looked online at Gamestop and Walmart and neither of them show a drum package. Since I obviously want to get it on Sunday, I didn't bother looking anywhere that I wouldn't be willing to drive to in order to pick it up and there is not a Blockbuster near me.

Also, has anyone heard whether GHWT instruments are going to be compatible with RB2? I have heard no, but then I also read that it was still up in the air and there was still a possiblilty...I have been looking around for a concrete answer on this, but have had no luck so far.

There is no Drum Package. It's just Guitar and Band Bundle. We will probably get a drum bundle before Christmas.

Compatibility is a no as of this moment. I have heard that the GH3 Les Paul works with RB2 though. (I'm talking about wii of course.) I did hear that Datel is making a converter but nobody really knows if it will work with GHWT drums.

So it's 190 for a guitar and game bundle? Where are you getting this information? After rereading your response I think I understand what you are saying. There isn't a drum only bundle, just a guitar only bundle. The band kit includes guitar drums and microphone.

I guess band bundle is what I really meant to say, but I have not seen it listed for sale, only the guitar/game together (for around $100), and game only for the normal $50 pricetag.

Well, I guess we just have to keep on hoping for compatibility. Otherwise I will for sure be passing up RB2 for Wii. I already have RB and the GH series for PS2, but want to convert. No way am I going to have 3 drum sets cluttering up my house! LOL
