Speaking of Sheik -

every time I played Link (main) vs an opp sheik, I used to lose often even if it was a n00b smash spammer. But I found one basic way around it. Run away and spam projectiles!!!

In my opinion, Sheik is somewhat cheap as he doesnt require much thinking out with moves only one move after the next is needed. Other problem is that she is almost entirely a close range fighter and so her moves use her body to attack. No disjointed hitboxes or projectiles. Only projectiles are needles. The chain is kind of an exception but no one really uses it in battles.

Trickz - Ken manages to recover from a rest move?!?!? WTF that's like one of the hardest moves to recover from unless u CC or DI downwards to the ground

On another matter I'm still practising with Marth and Falco so I can have an easier time beating against Sheik / Fox players.

Taken from Grizz_Lee at SmashBoards:
What do you mean there are no "cheap" characters. Fox, Marth, and Shiek, if you are to designate any in the game as cheap, are the cheapest of the cheap. Marth can literally win a game with C-Stick mashing. With Fox, its so easy to combo into and UAir, and kill certain characters at less then 90% upwards. And Shiek is incredibly fast and powerful with her Fair, Uair, DSmash, and almost every single attack of hers. Those characters are on the very top because they are the easiest to play and easist to win with. You cant hardly argue that, because its fact. I'm not trying to sound like a John here, but thats how it is. Thats one of the reasons some people, like KIllaOR decide to "break the steryotype" and go with another character. If you watch the East vs West Coast finals at FC3, KillaOR gets 3 stocked by Ken's Fox. Killa even uses a good UThrow Rest combo on him, and Ken still makes it back. Enough said. Representing Mid tier right here.
Hey, don't hate on Fox. He's not a cheap character, he's just quick and has a good set of attacks.

Certain players are cheap, not characters, although I do agree that, and this is from another thread, Link's shield that he holds that doubles as a reflector isn't fair unless they do that sort of thing for all the characters like, and this was an example from someone else, if you run into Bowser's spikey back, it should hurt you, which would be more realistic even if this game isn't based in reality.

Why is nitendo taking out alll these charachters?

Well one of the reasons is they want all the players to act diffrently. For instance pichu, Ganadorf, young link, Falco, Dr Mario have the same attacks as Captain Falcon, Link, Fox, and Mario. So Nitnedo decided that in order to provide a good new SSB game they needed more variety in thier characters.

I am a master at Ganadorf so this news crushed me when i heard it. But we have to take the good with the bad after all I think Solid Snake could make up for him. The list of characters is near completion and I can only tell what I have heard. So far the new characters in Super Smash Brothers Brawl, are Zero Suit Samus, Metaknight, Pit, Solid Snake, and Wario.

Dont worry old favorites like Bowser, Linkk, Mario and others will return to brawl. Brawl is shaping up to be more of a success than its predessor Melee. Well that is all i can tell you about it know, I will post new threads when I get some more information Saynora!
What game is this Pit From? I think the Idea of Samus without a suit will be pretty cool although Link and Samus from SSBM were my favorite chars and i am pretty darn good at them. I hope regular Samus will remain once of the best characters in the game...but I am really looking forward to trying to new Samus.

This has already sort of been explained, although I'm not trying to be rude. Samus and the new Zero Suit Samus are the same character, like Princess Zelda and Sheik are the same character.

Nate, Fox is cheap. And Link's held shield isn't a reflector, its just a shield. Also, Fox has what is probably the best move in the game, the shine. Do you know what that is?

Sorry, yeah I meant shield, but I still don't think it should just block without the player doing anything.

As for "the shine" you are talking about, no. Please tell me about it, if you don't mind.

*EDIT* Just googled it and after some searching, I think I know what you are talking about. It's Fox's reflector, right? Yeah, I agree it's a great move. Personally, I think Fox has the coolist and most varied skill set of all the characters in SSBM...and he's NOT cheap! Players are.

Search "Shined Blind" on google video. Then you'll think the shine is 10x better.

OH MY GOSSSHHHH!!! I never realized it's true abilities! Darn, why did I sell my Gamecube?? I am totally getting this game again the day I get Wii until SSBB comes out.

Here is the video for those who haven't seen it. Note: pay attention to the fight between Fox and Ganondorf at 2 minutes 16 seconds. I'm just...just in awww!

Yes, not cheap, in the slightest. By the way, when I first saw it, I was like you. Here's my tip, learn all the advanced techniques for SSBB and things like this as soon as you can. I didn't know this stuff until like 3 months ago, I could of been so much better at SSBM...

I didn't know about them at all until someone, it may have been you, started threads on this site about SSBM advanced moves and wavedashing and all that.

I never would have thought there was so much I didn't know about a videogame that seems, at it's core, pretty simplistic.

Easy to play, hard to master. And I did post a thread about wavedashing.

I agree. Trying to do advanced moves against someone (even a n00b) requires ALOT of technical skill just to be able to do them. It's took me like almost a whole month just to wavedash easily and I can do it easily without having to think about it much. But getting it to become second nature is even harder. It requires you to do the move over and over and then you'll get to a point where you'll do the moves easily and not have to think about it much. Kinda same with basic moves - I can do them easily and not have to think much about the moves but I have to think about which moves I should do in what situation.

Manily I learn the advanced moves so that I can get better in battles at uni smash comps on fri arvo, as I've noticed only one person uses these advanced moves. Also, its so that I am fully ready for SSBB when it comes out on Wii.

SSBM is very simplistic lol that's what makes it a great game!

I know this is a stupid question, probably cuz i've done this move b4, but still, can u explain? Thx. Wavedashing I mean.

And I agree w/ that statement earlier, it's such an easy game to figure out, but to get good at it takes time and practice. Sometimes it's better to play against lvl. 7's instead of lvl. 9's just so that u can practice doing that ultimacy w/ fox. Facing 3 lvl. 9's at once doesn't mean much, cuz when u'r facing a real human they aren't gonna fall for stupid tricks like making fox a cpu and tricking him to do his speed-dash off the cliff. They may do it once, but then they understand there mistake, recalculate and try something else, considering they actually have a brain...but anyways it's one thing to watch that vid and see how "easy" it looks but takes hr.'s of practicing to make it actually happen.

WaveDash, jump, but before you have visibly left the ground, air dodge diagonally into the ground and your character will slide along it, leaving a trail of smoke. If you are not sure if you are WaveDashing correctly, do it with Luigi, as he has the best and most obvious WaveDash.
Quote taken from: http://ssbm.detstar.com/advancedmoves2/
A wavedash is kind of a glitch in the game. Initially found by the game developers who were experimenting with the game engine for beta testing etc...
After some practice you can use it to do smashes or standard attacks or grabs while moving. Or you can use it to pretend to rush at the opponent and as you get close you wavedash back and do a forward attack or Fsmash. This is one example of using a wavedash. There are many applications with using wavedashes.
