Wii HD - 720p or 480p?

Hello,

When I bought my Wii I connected to my LCD HD ready screen with the normal scart(3 connectors). In the screen options there was an option for 720p but it was greyed out. I recently bought a component lead for better quality when I go into the screen setting this time you can only select 480p.

Can anyone answer why this is. Why was the option for 720p there in the first place?

The LCD SCREEN Knows that when the signal coming in is Composite (SCART) that the 720p option is not required as that is only used for High def.

The reason it is there and they did not write into the software to remove it is probably because it would have been too complex. Also, it lets you know your TV is capable of receiving HD in 720p
