Japanese wiimote on PAL system

A friend of mine is going to Japan and I was wondering if I get some japanese wiimotes will they work on a PAL Wii without any problems? It makes sense that they would work but you never know.

This is only a guess but I say YES it will work. My reasoning behind this is that when connecting a WiiMote to your PC they all have the same bluetooth name.

edit: Look a this!

As for accessories like the Wiimote and the classic controller (for playing downloaded Nintendo games), this will work no matter what region they are from. However, the Japanese Wii point cards cannot be redeemed on US and European systems.

it probably will, i dont see why not. Wii consoles are region locked, but the remotes arent. tell us how it goes.

i have used US wii remotes on a UK wii, and vice versa...

there shouldnt be a difference in the japanese remotes, apart from the packaging language and maybe no warranty if you are using in a country other than the one you bought it in...

as an aside the japanese lan adapters work on UK wiis, maybe thats another indication the hardware (not including the console) isnt region coded/locked.

I am pretty sure that they will work. The games are the only items that are region locked so buying accessories for your Wii from Japan should not cause you any problems.
