This may seem like a stupid question but is there any way to get more memory for your wii... like could you plug an external drive (I have a few sitting around my house) into the usb and save to that? or is there any way to upgrade the amount of space in the system?

There is talk of Nintendo releasing an external hard drive at some point but you can't plug any old HD in I'm afraid.

You can get a 1 GB or 2 GB memory card.

Which you can't use for save games or VC titles.

An SD card can store photos, videos, etc. but other than that no. unless of course your talking about gamecube games, where you can store them on gamecube memory cards.
But Ninty MAY release an external HD soon.

You CAN transfer save files and VC titles to your SD memory cards; however, the Wii will not read the data from the card, so it must be tranferred back onto the Wii's internal memory when you go to us it. SD cards are still a viable method to archive old save games which you aren't using but may want to use at a later date.

No, you have to use a GC memory card.
