My brother is going to the US and he might buy me a second wii remote for my nintendo wii. However, if he does buy a wii remote from the US, then will it work on a nintendo wii from the UK?

I don't see why not.. it only runs on batteries and does not get plugged into the wall socket. So I guess it would do!

All accessories for the Wii console are not region locked, so they should all work. Its the software that are specific to each region.
