maybe it's the Battery Power, if not, just change wiimote if you have more..or if not..then well just sync it like ^ said

I am having exactly the same issue. We have 2 wii remotes and both are acting the same way. I've re-synced both. The buttons work fine when not in the Zelda game. Not sure what to do.

Zelda worked great right after it came out. We haven't played it in 4-6 months. Just started playing again and can't even equip the fishing pole to progress. Help!

If the problem persists I would call the nintendo tech line they will most likely tell you how to fix it or just send you a replacement controller for free if that is the problem.

OK. My problem is solved. I called Nintendo and they gave me a very hi-tech solution. Turn the Wii Remote so it is facing down (battery compartment side up). Slap the Wiimote (buttons side down) into your opposite hand. The woman I talked to said there is a sensor in the Wiimote that needs top be "jarred" to be reset. This crazy because the buttons worked fine when not in Zelda. But it worked. Hope this can help somebody out...
