Can anyone confirm that accessories purchased in the USA are compatible with the UK Wii?

I have just managed to purchase a Wii in the UK but cannot get hold of additional remote controls. A friend in the USA is willing to bring one over, I just want to check that it will work before spending anymore cash. I emailed Nintendo Customer Service a week ago but haven't had a reply.

I'm positive the only thing incompatible will be the power cord and DVD Game Media (PAL vs NTSC). Have fun!

I'm pretty sure that you can't because of the region lock, but I could be wrong. Oh and welcome to Wiichat!
