Yikes! CRT based monitors don't have some magical unlimited latency - there's still delay while a monitor draws an entire frame. 75Hz converts roughly into an 13.8ms latency (75Hz is an important number as it's the point where human beings start seeing a discernible difference).

I noticed this when I was at a friend's house who has HDTV that there was a noticeable lag. Since I couldn't find an option to compensate for that in the Wii options or the game, we just dealt with it. We were playing Cooking Mama, and that's frustrating to have such a lag.

use the component cables and use the higher resolution.

i went from a CRT to a LCD to a Plasma (LCD and Plasma was friends tv's)
i was unable to play the Virtual Console games on the LCD and Plasma. They lagged unbelieveably.
many of the LDC's and Plasma's cannot process the analog signal (standard Yellow/White/Red cables) fast enough

You need the wii component cables. It has a special end to plug into where the other AV cables plugged in to. You cannot use standard component cables with the 5 plugs on each end.

Do a google search for wii component cables.
