2nd Wiimote & sensitivity settings

I just got a Wii today and have been having a blast....so far I have run into a few problem though with my second remote...

The first is that I can sync it but then after awhile, the led light shuts off and I have to resuync it in order to use it. Is this a remote issue or battery issue?

Also,

I synced it up with the console and the 2nd led is on but when I try to access the Wii Settings to adjust the sensitivity, it won't let me select the settings tab....how can I access the settings throug the 2nd remote?

If it is synced for a while and just shuts off, try a new set of batteries. The wii, however, should tell you when batteries are running low though.

To the 2nd question, just try a new set of batteries and see what happens. Also turn the other controller off, then try and turn the one on so it is the 1st player and see what happens.
