Wii Remote Help, Can't register to Mario party 8!

Ok, I lost the instruction booklet to the Wii, and I know about the Press 1 & 2 and the Red Reset button, but that doesn't work, any help please?

Start by making sure your batteries are ok, open the memory card slot and push reset button and hold down A & B.

open the sd card slot, press the red button, then hold the red button under the battery cover on the remote until it synchs
