1.)read your owners manual... that's how. i'll even give you a hint, it in between pages 3 and 5...
2.)no(but you would know that too if you read the 20 something page booklet they kindly gave you with your $250 purchase)

well for one i wonder if it is a dumb question. When i hit my reset button, nothing happens. I have to shut it down and back on again.

I get the same thing occasionally - my Wii freezes on a black screen immediately after I tell it to load a game disk, it loses the connection with the Wiimote and doesn't respond to the reset button. What I do is hold down the power button for a few seconds until the light goes red, then turn the Wii on again. |

press and hold the power button for 5 secs or so until the power button light is red.
