How To Turn Off A Wiimote: Step by Step

Yeah. It's a bit complicated, but do the following:
  1. Hit the 'Home' Button
  2. Press "Wii Remote Settings" down at the bottom of the screen
  3. Press the "Reconnect" button
  4. Hold down 1 and 2 on the controller you wish to be ON
  5. After it connects (you can tell by there being a battery that is 'lit' at the bottom of the screen), hit 'B' to exit out
  6. Press "Close Wii Remote Settings"
  7. Hit the 'Home' button or press "Close" at the top of the screen

That should do it! Just make sure you only reconnect the one you want to be ON. The other should turn off automatically

Hope this helps!

No problem. I was having this problem before and just kind of managed to figure it out on my own.

couldn't you have just paused, switched batteries between the two controllers, pressed any button to reactivate the remote(s), then kept playing? would've been easier than resetting the wii, me thinks :P

As far as I know, no one mentioned nyko reachargeable stuff (and certainly not the person I originally quoted).

The purpose of this thread is to tell people how to turn remotes off.

So, no, my post doesn't defeat the purpose of rechargeable batteries: please tell me how switching batteries between remotes defeats any purpose? I was under the impression that the person intended to use a controller with more juiced batteries; switching good batteries for bad ones would have achieved this. Nor does it defeat the purpose of the thread - I'm not giving different, easier ways of switching remotes off, nor am I doing saying anything else that runs counter to what this thread narrates.

Guillotine,
what was your purpose of this thread?
was it to save batteries?
was this suppose to be in game or out of game?

i assumed that you wanted to shut off a wiimote (not a specific one) and continue playing with another wiimote without switching batteries or shutting of the console.

i'm not doubting your for starting a thread or for trying to be helpful. thanks.

I've noticed people having problems with this before, so I figured people could use a way to turn them off. You can save batteries by doing this, or if you are just tired of being second player (or whatever) and don't feel like getting up and getting whoever was first player's wiimote, you can make yourself first player.

I believe this works at almost all times except for maybe when on the Wii Main Menu screen (channels). It may even work then, I'm not sure.
