it doesnt even have 2 be connected, just use 2 candles it works fine, (try anyways with the sensor plugged in and out, candles are beta for me =])

Hi there ....we got rockband for the wii and set it up...the Microphone and drums work perfectly but the guitar won't sync we;ve tried holding the buttons like it says, we've had people come over who own one and tried to set it up the way they did it... it still doesn't work.
any ideas ?

ok first off u kno the sd slot in the wii? next 2 it push the sync button there, then push it on wateva (control guitar that stuff)
if that dont work unsync all your controls and do whichever one isnt working, if that stil dont work sync the ones that can then use my method of 2 candles then it should definintly work

Hi folks. I just wanted to post a couple problems I have had with my Wii recently and some solutions. Hopefully these may work for others.

First problem I had a couple days ago. The Wii started making this loud clicking noise whenever there was a screen transition (like from the Wii menu or during a game). Thankfully I was able to return it to where I bought it and they gave me a brand new console. If your Wii starts making this noise it is a hardware issue and you should either return it or send it in for repair.

One day my hand icon started jumping all over the screen so I called Nintendo tech support and they told me it was a sensor issue. The tech asked if the sensor was on the TV and if there were any bright areas around where the TV was located. I said there was since my TV sits in front of my windows and even with the shades drawn the sunlight was still effecting the sensitivity of the Wiimote sensor. Drawing the blinds as well as the shades fixed that problem. So if you start having that jerky hand icon issue then make sure your TV (or the sensor bar) isn't near another bright light source.

If you do not use the Wiimote for a certain period of time it will go to sleep. This is actually a good thing, because when the Wiimote goes to sleep it is conserving on the batteries and you just need to hit the "A" button to wake it up again.

I was playing Zelda one day and suddenly the game froze. I panicked and called tech support and they informed me that if you play the Wii for a long time (in my case it was ten hours) then there's a slight possibility of the game freezing. I simply ejected the disc, turned the Wii off for a while, then turned it back on, inserted the game disc again and everything was fine.

I have found that the Wii behaves better sitting upright in its stand. I believe this is because it dissipates heat better in the upright position. Also, it's a good idea to make sure the Wii has lots of open room around it. I first had mine sitting flat underneath my TV in a little cubby hole and I found it got quite warm down there. Once I moved it out from under the TV and placed it in the stand it never got more than lukewarm, even after playing a game for several hours. They also make cooling units for the Wii, which is probably a good idea considering you spent $250 on it. Better to be safe than sorry.

Well that's about it. I hope this may help anyone who encounters these issues.

Ok, maybe somebody here can tell me what's up with my Wii. I've been having a problem for about a week now. I finally got my Wii hooked up to the internet about a month ago. The first thing I did was purchase a bunch of virtual console games...I think I've got about 30 now (and still have about 900 blocks of free memory available). Anyway, this past week I was playing Ogre Battle, and I noticed my screen would glitch every now and then. I didn't think anything about it at first, I just thought it was the way Ogre Battle was programed or something. After a while the glitches started seeming more frequent (about every minute or two). When I say glitch, what I mean is that the screen kind of blurs for a fraction of a second. It gets pretty annoying after a while. Well, I tried playing some other games since then (Super Mario 2, Altered Beast, Super Punch-Out) and they're starting to do it too. Does anyone know whats causing this and if there's a way to fix it?

I'm kind of worried that it might be an overheating problem, not due to my Wii but because of my X-Box 360. I have both systems in my entertainment cabinet, and the 360 is on the shelf below it. When I use my 360 I always try to open my cabinet to make sure it vents, but I have felt that my Wii has gotten hot before. I got a fan for my 360 a few weeks ago and I think its helping it cool off a bit. I think I still have my warranty on the Wii if its a problem that can't be fixed, but if I exchange it I lose all the games I just downloaded Please help!

My Wii won't turn on! It's barely over a year old (just enough that it'd pull a $75 bill from a factory repair). I simply sat down to play it, and it won't turn on. The buttons do nothing. It's plugged in correctly, I've checked and re-checked, and re-checked. I've also read in other locales that unplugging it for a while helps. I've done this a half dozen times for different lengths of time.

Any thoughts? Is it likely to be the power cord or something? I'm quite pissed.

I know the feeling, im on the road all the time, this time a three week stint in a hotel so I decided to pack my wii, haven't used it in about 4 months since I got back from Antarctica, I get to my hotel room and set it up!! NO POWER on it!! How could it just go bad?? I tried every outlet in this room,, UI dont get it..

Both of my Wii controllers stopped working properly. Their pointer works fine, but the accelerometers (like you use in Wii Golf) are very sluggish and unpredictable, and the controller sound is intermittent. They can't both have failed at once?!? It's like you're underwater when you swing the controller - sometimes its just delayed, sometimes the degree of swing seems slowed. I replaced the batteries - no change. Anybody else seen this?

I have seen this when playing gold too.. My soon beats me because of this, I swing and it's delayed causing it to hit too hard or not hard enough. I changed batteries too but nothing. But now my issue is bigger, my power supply isn't working and it's out of warranty!!!! What to do???

Wii won't power on.

I haven't used my Wii for a couple weeks. Went to play it yesturday and it won't power on. The red light just stays on. Nothing at all happens when I push the power button.

I tried unplugging it overnight and leaving it off, but still didn't work.

My Wiimote does not work correctly it has a cursor and everything but when i play Mariokart i cant steer and when i play baseball on wiisports the bat will swing by itself and with tennis it doesnt swing at all. Basically its not detecting any roll or pitch.

What should i do to fix this problem?

Right after we moved into a new house, I attempted to turn my Wii on for my kids. I couldn't get anything...no power to the box. After checking to make sure it wasn't my surge protector or the individual plug, I put in a request for service from Nintendo.

I sent off my console and power cord via UPS and within two weeks received my equipment back, repaired! I was able to check the status of my repair online anytime, and the speed of the repair really impressed me. I'm not sure what everyone else's experiences are with Nintendo customer service, but they made it easy for me to register my Wii's warranty and act on it when I needed to.

Anyway. I got a Wii back a long time ago, I don't really remember when. But I do know that about 6 months ago my Wii started making grinding noises, but it was not very significant.

Gradually the noises became louder and louder, now it sounds like a motorboat. That would not bother me at all though. Then disks started to stop reading during loading screens. This all red screen would appear saying: "The disk could not be read" Then when I eject it, it would say: "Please insert the [Game here] Disk" Oddly enough, if I ejected the disk, then re-inserted it, it would work!

So I took the pristine disk and took extreme care of it. Keeping it in the case at all times when not in the wii, making sure that I was careful not to touch the readable side, I wouldn't even set the disk down with the non-readable side down. It was either in the case, or the Wii at all times, and nobody else touched it.

So a month of red screens later, the disk was scratched, but not too badly. Point being that it was scratched from being in the Wii.

Gradually the number of times that I had to re-insert the disk became larger to the point where the disk does not read at all.

A brand new disk worked. Then 10 minutes later the red screens started popping up and within the hour could not be read as well.

I don't know if this matters, but a few weeks into using the Wii, I had a very strange thing happen. I was playing Wii sports when suddenly the screen froze. A very high pitched screeching sound was emitted from the console. Unplugging the Wii from the TV did nothing, the picture was still there. Even when I unplugged the power cord, the green light stayed on, but at least the noise stopped.

So now here I am. I have a Wii that, when turned off, shows a yellow light always. It begins to rotate the disk, with the motorboat sounds, then stops saying it is unable to read the disk. My disks sometimes come out with a few more scratches than when I had put the disk in. Red screens would pop up saying the disk could not be read if I made it to the game. Although these could be bypasses by ejecting, then re-inserting the disk. It takes 10 reloads of the disk to bypass the red screen and get through the entire loading screen. All scratches are in circular motions, the same curve as the outer edge of the disk. Both fans (there's two, right?) are cleared and are receiving air. I have already tried what other people have said, on other websites, by unplugging all cables and letting it sit for a few days. I'm thinking this needs repair, although the warranty is already expired.

Should I send it back or is there something I can do to fix it?

If it were me, I'd just send it back to have it repaired. If the warranty's expired on it, you still may be able to catch a break with it in terms of cost.

Hi the same has happened to me. However, I have just tried to use the tv etc. Have you found out how to rectify this? Should I take into Nintendo and look at repairing? I bought Wii @ Christmas time - so still under warranty.

If you mean the same power issue that I had, these are the steps I took to get my Wii fixed.

1. Go to and select your region.
2. Make your way through the troubleshooting/repair guide (Under Wii Troubleshooting and Repairs)
3. To the right of the page is a section for "Power Problems". Follow that link.
4. Read all the steps, and if after completion your Wii does not work then find this phrase at the bottom of the page and click to start a repair ticket.

The process was really simple and straightforward for me. I hope this helps...

Oh great. Just when I was about to play Wii Sports Resort, my Wii isn't working!!!!!!! Here is what happened. First, I got Wii Sports Resort. Then, I put the disc in. It told me to update my system, so I did. After that, the screen just went blank and it stayed like that. So, after a couple minutes, I turned my Wii back on. Then the screen was still blank, and my Wii was making no noise. I checked everything, over and over again, and turned it off and on multiple times, but nothing happened.
