What disc error are you getting illmasaki?
Does it come up with a number or just a generic disc error message or just not recognise the disc?
Is it only on one disc or is it on others - have you tried putting in a music CD?
Does the Wii make any extra noise (a repetitive click or whirring?) when trying to read the disc?

Hi,
I got Wii Fit over the weekend but can't make the balance board work. Synchronizes ok but when you get to the Body Test, it keeps saying "step off board and press button A." Well, I'm not standing on the board in the first place and no matter how many times I press button A, I get the same message.
Am I missing something or is it bust and I need to return it?
Any one else encountered this? Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks for reading,
MJW

I'm going to refer you to an old post that has sorted this problem out for nearly everyone that has experienced it...

It's not your Wii, hopefully - have you tried changing the fuse?
If you have, or experience the same problem again, once the fuse has been replaced - it could be that the power surge has damaged the adapter.
But that's what the fuse is for - to stop that from happening...
If the adapter is knackered, then you've got a problem.
You'll need a new one - take the Wii to a decent shop and try it out with THEIR adapter.
If it works - there's your problem... Buy it.
If it doesn't...
That'll teach you to be a cheapskate and not buy the Wii's designed for your country.
Your Wii will have gone FUBAR and you'll need to buy a new one.
1 - check fuse, replace with one the same (3 amp - red)
2 - if that don't work, try another adapter. If that don't work it's the Wii gone kaput.
3 - Buy the Wii that's meant to be for your power supply in your country.
Having to buy two from abroad is more expensive than one from the shop down the town which will provide you with a warranty, so you don't have to pay a penny for any problems you get with it.
|
The 1.2.3 bit is the bit to try, in that order - if they don't work and your Wii is under warranty, contact Nintendo and get them to send you a new one.
Hope it's just the fuse!

I've been googling for about 3 hours and I hope someone can help. I plug my Wii in and there is a red light. When I press ANY button the disk drive flashes blue and the whole console shuts down. I have tried a few different things:
~I've tried numerous outlets
~I've unplugged and replugged everything
~I've vacuumed out the vents
Can anyone please help?!?

Have you read the troubleshooting section of the Wii manual yet?
(Because the answer's in there...)

Hey buyed the wii about 2 weeks ago and the zelda game cuz im abit of a fan for it. Used it for some time now playing some of the wii sports, then in inserted zelda i got to the loading screen were im supposed to press 2 buttons to start the game then the screen went black and have ever since then not worked ...the wii console that is.
The problem is that whenever i try to turn on wii the screen react but i get no image whatsoever..... and i have looked up on the support pages even called for help but got no ''good'' solution from them.
Since then it havent worked and i havent had the chanse to deliver it back to the store so that they can check it or give me a new 1.
But i was wondering if any of u had this problem, and have probably fixed it cuz i dunno what to do now.

Since it's new and it's under warranty - Find the time to take it back to the shop.
Tell them it's borked and they'll give you a new one.
Hope you kept the receipt and / or have a good relationship with the shop staff!

My kid's wii shuts itself off mid game. The only way to get it to turn back on is to unplug the power cord from the back of the wii and plug it back in. It will work for a few minutes to a few hours and then it will happen again. The plugs are excessively hot, as is the wii itself. I have vacuumed all the vents and openings, but it didn't help. Not sure what is causing this. It is very annoying. Does anyone have any advice?

Don't know if someone posted this yet, but if I leave a disk i the wii overnight or for a few hours without playing it It'll make a clicking sound while it's trying to load.It won't load at all. It doesn't really do anything other than that for problems. I just don't wnat anythign major to happen to my Wii.

It's most likely not so much the cooling that's the problem - if it's getting overheat at the power (which could cause a fire!) make sure it's NOT plugged into a muti-adaptor.
If it is, you could be over-loading everything. That's dangerous.
If it was just the Wii overheating, the plug would not be hot - the cooling system for the Wii's hardware is more than enough for normal operations.
I'd be more suspicious of *how* it is plugged in. What's the Amperage and Voltage of your power supply and the Wii's recommeded power intake?
It could be a case of your home's power supply being too high and it's causing a build-up of charge in the whole Wii from plug to console.
The safety cut off is because the whole thing is getting too hot - it's to prevent damage to the Wii console and not start an electrical fire.
Check that all the leads - including the plug it's socketed into - are wired safely.
Check that the power supply is of the correct type for your home's power outlet.
If you have to use a multi-plug adaptor, use an extension lead with multiple sockets rather than one of those square ones which all go into the wall.
They're unsafe and should be banned - they cause more electrical fires than most other electrical extensions.
Until you get the overheating sorted out, the Wii will continue to shut off when it reaches a critical temperature.
Get the problem with the power sorted out and the Wii will behave just fine.
Unless it's gone too far and there's been some irreperable damage to the console...
Try getting a new power supply - swopping your old one - and plugging it into it's own home outlet.
See if that helps...
If it doesn't, post again and I'll have another look.

Continued operation, without reset at any time, shortens the life of any electrical product...
There's some reason why it's called "operational life".
The clicking sound is most likely caused by the motors that move the laser and spin the disc.
This could be because of the operational lifespan or it could be because you don't clean your discs and the Wii's laser is dirty.
The simple solution to this (using Occam's Razor) is to simply remember to take the disc out of the Wii and turn it off at night.
That way, this won't happen - you'll also make sure that you're not wasting electricity by leaving the Wii on standby or leaving it on all night.
1.) Remove Disc
2.) Turn off Wii
3.) Save your Wii and electricity
Simple, eh?
What reason do you have to leave the Wii on all the time apart from being lazy?
It's not like you cannot save or progress from the last saved checkpoint.
What's more important? Being Lazy and not removing the disc and turning off the Wii or compounding this problem by being Lazy?

The wall outlet is a standard 120V grounded socket. It tests at 124V with my digital multimeter (same as every outlet in my house). This one box is on its own 20A breaker wired with 12 gauge romex. Distance from outlet box to breaker box is ~ 30 feet. The Wii is plugged into a surge protector power strip, like for computer equipment. The power strip is rated for 15A. My television, DVD player, Xbox 360 and home theater system are plugged into the same power strip. I don't have any way to measure actual current draw, but when I set it up, I added the power ratings of all the equipment and it was well within the acceptable range for the power strip. The breaker on the power strip has never tripped. Power cords themselves do not get warm. The Wii has been set up like this for almost 2 years without a problem. I think it is a hardware issue. I will try a new power cord and let you know if that fixes the problem.
EDIT:
I just checked the most obvious thing that I failed to think of until now. The cooling fan is not spinning. I think I have found the problem. Now I just need to locate a replacement fan, I think.

Nice one!
That's strange that it led to heating up the power supplies too...
I'd be interested to know what the fan is - ball bearing, motor, size, etc...
How is it fixed and whether it's easily replaced.
I know that a lot of cheaper fans can burn out quite easily - especially the ball bearing type if they're not greased.
I guess I can't ask about the sound, because it'd be the absence of sound it the fan wasn't spinning...
If it's been 2 years, maybe that's getting toward the operational life of a Wii fan.
Though, we haven't had a problem with ours and it's been a bit longer.
Thanks for the info - I'll keep that in mind.
Good fix!
[edit]
Ohhh... "plugs..."
I just realised that could've meant the inputs, not the plug you stick in the wall...

I hope there's been no damage due to over-heat since the fan's been gone...
How long has it been malfunctioning, do you think?
