We understand you think the Wii should play DVDs. While you don't appreciate the humor of the replies, it doesn't change the fact that the point they are trying to make is the same: complaining that something doesn't do something it was never designed to do is rather silly.

We understand you want to save space. Who wouldn't?

I have a separate VCR and DVD player. They take up twice the space of a combined VCR/DVD device. Would it be nice if the VCR played DVDs, or if the DVD player played VHS tapes? Sure. Less space in my component cabinet. Why do I have separate devices, though? Because the separate DVD player is a better DVD player than the after-thought crap you'd get from some combo unit.

Do I complain that my VCR, which was never advertised as being able to play DVDs, doesn't? No. Do I make a fuss in the Samsung or Panasonic forums that their VCR/DVD player doesn't play the opposite format? Of course not. I'd be made fun of and told to just go buy a separate unit that does the job.

Just because you don't like the parallels between your request and the responses people are making doesn't make them any less-accurate. Yelling louder doesn't make you right. Nor does telling everyone to "shut up". They're repeating themselves because apparently they're having a difficult time in getting through to you.

There are specific and valid reasons why the Wii doesn't play DVDs. Lots of people have spent lots of time (in varying ways) to explain them to you. The sooner you can accept that reality, the sooner you can have peace in your life and not get so stressed out about this.

Um, I know me saying anything isn't going to magically cause my Wii to play DVDs, I don't need you to tell me that. And like I said, a lot of things have functions that aren't advertised. You are having trouble understanding me apparently. I am very well aware of the dozens of post saying why the Wii doesn't play DVDs. I can still bitch about it if I want, just like I can't stop people from making lame jokes. If you don't like my complaining, feel free to ignore it. The Wii drive actually fits CDs and I don't care what you think you can stick into a VCR or DVD player and bake or toast or whatever.

So in conclusion:

1. I am aware of the reasons why Wii won't or can't play DVDs.
2. I'm still going to bitch about it.
3. I know it won't change anything.
4. I enjoy bitching about it.

Is that okay?

How am I trolling? I'm not personally attacking anyone. Since when have opinions on functions and components on products been considered trolling? You guys are taking this way too seriously sheesh. It amuses me how easily people go into a "I'm right and you're wrong noob" frenzy on these forums.

It's not my fault this thread hasn't created a "healthy" discussion. All I did was ask a question, but thank you for reminding me to not do that as often as it seems everyone here likes to be an ass about it instead. 'Not on our time'? You and everyone else who grazed this thread willingly clicked this topic and posted a reply. I'm pretty sure no ones pointing a gun to your face and forcing you to waste your time here. My original post should have said all what? In that case, everyone else has spammed as much as I have since they didn't gather all their thoughts in one post.

Anyways, I've got my answers and I'm done here. Sorry to those that were annoyed by my question and my "bitching". Honestly, there's been more bitching about my question than actual answers, but whatever.

I too wish the Wii could play DVD's, simply as I don't have the space on my desk in the bedroom to hold my PC, monitor, TV and Wii, then add on a DVD play to the mix.

As someone pointed out earlier in the thread, it can surf the net, show the weather/news/pictures (even MJPEG video clips in the photo channel), so to me it seems adding DVD capability wouldn't go against the ethos that has already been started with the other channels.

However, adding the ability to play DVDs would incur a fee for the ability (I have no idea who much one costs, although it can't be much with all these cheap DVD players around), and as someone else said, Nintendo seemed fixated on the price of the console.

It doesn't bother me that it can't play DVD's, I Just use my PC, however it would have been a nice feature to have

The thread had some good points telling why the Wii doesn't play DVD. But in your conclusion you say you're already aware of it, but you like to complain even if that gets you no where. That just really voids the thread. If you were to continue to explore how DVDs would boost Wii sales or any other theory that could be backed up I wouldn't mind.

Of course you didn't -made- me or anyone else read the thread, but curiosity is human nature. I thought that the thread would have some integrity to it, but as it seems you just don't care how the thread turns out. When I say our time I was also referring to the forum in general because people come here to expecting a decent community.

This is just basically a thread about you whining the Wii doesn't play DVD when it could.. I could go ahead and say the Wii could have 360 graphic if Nintendo actually tried (I know why they didn't, and know me pointing it out won't change anything.. but I just like complaining, it's my opinion so hah!) Really if your question wasn't answered by those people you could have reinforced it by repeating it? as oppose to fighting flames with flames.

forget all about this. We just argued about our opinions, but it began to be a fight , I just want to say my own opinion about this subject , I like to be natural and say the truth , but I admit it , it would be good if Wii had the possibility of playing DVD's , have you ever wanted to bring with you your wii and your movies ( Personally I like to watch the new anime's episodes ) But instead of buying a DVD or something I can have 2 in 1 , and my TV can't play Wii,DVD player and Channels , so I have to remove one of them , but as you said I understand that Nintendo has never played DVD's and CD's officialy and will never , Who knows .

I mean he has 2 DVD players ; His lucky he can plug his dvd and Wii at the same time but not everyone can afford to it so opinions are changing so there's no point in debating on this.
Some people cannot plug the Wii + the channels online + the dvd player on their TV in the same time ( my problem)... When I go to a trip somewhere else where there is no Wii or Dvd player , I can bring my Wii at once (if there was a DVD player) instead of bringing my DVD + the Wii ,

The wii is not a DVD player maybe not but if they had extra features it would make it better ,
It like you're saying a T.V is not designated for Games , so why are you in this forums if you need the "Original function" ,
I can give a lot of examples :
The computer was designated to be a calculator not a DVD player ,
It's the same thing with the Wii ,
The Wii is not designed for DVD's but it can be very good if it had one , you just don't have the habit of using a DVD player on another Console system but you have the habit to use the computer for games and DVD player ( Not the original function : calculator)
You play the Wii on your TV but it wasn't designed to play games long time ago ( It was to watch the news and DVD's)
So your example has no exact meaning ,
And don't try to find a mistake in my text and chew it like esoterika said ,
