Finally found a Wii at Circuit City last weekend. Today I went to Gamestop and picked up a universal set of component (HDTV - Red, Blue, and Green) cables for PS3, Wii, and XBox 360. I plugged it into the Wii and my TV, and went in and set the Wii to the 480p thing in the Screen menu. As soon as I did that the menus got fuzzier. There is a noticeable difference. If I then switch it back to the Standard 480i it gets much clearer. This is on a 55" Sony Grand Wega rear projection LCD TV, so it should look a little better, not worse, right? Are they cheap cables, or am I missing something here? Thanks in advance.

Actually, I noticed the same thing on a 42" Grand Wega, but with the offical licensed cables that cost more money. The games themselves look fine, it's the menu that just doesn't look right. Tried the composite cable, thought it looked sharper. Huh! I keep thinking there's got to be a setting somewhere I'm missing.

make sure that you put the display in widescreen in case that you left it in the standard tb 4:3.

I wouldn't bother playing it on a tv that big it probably looks pretty bad in 480p.

The best thing to do is probably play it on a standard resolution tv with component cables in 480p.

In your case the fuzziness is probably from your tv though. . .

Yerp .. its your size of screen, 480P is the best setting a Wii can do..

i know this might sound far out, but imagine 480 being a small sqaure.. the bigger then tv the Larger the square has to be stretched..

Comparing this to other consoles a PS3 can output at what 1080P ? a much larger square. So no need to stretch..
