Ok, someone told my gf this and I kinda thought "baloney!" but I thought I'd ask. Someone told my gf that a Wii, played on a big screen HDTV (I have a 40' Samsung LCD) will damage the actual tv... the tube/picture or something.
This is baloney right??? I know it won't come out at HDTV quality, it'll be 480i, and likely be a lot more pixelated than on my gfs smaller 25' tube tv, but it won't "damage" the tv in any way, correct??
My cousin took a magnifacent crap in my toilet. Almost a foot long.....but he didn't flush and I had to live with the smell for three hours till I found out where it was coming from.

thats bs. the only thing it could do is burn in, but the wii has built in protection.

If an image is static on a plasma for long enough, and I mean days or weeks, then it will burn. But the images on a Wii tend to be a little bit more dynamic. Even if you pause the Wii and leave the room, it will dim the picture. Also, the TV itself more than likely has a similar feature that will dim or switch off the picture if a static image is displayed. Also, also, newer TVs automatically shift the screen 1 pixel up, down, left or right periodically to overcome this problem. To sum up, you have been given cack information.
Once upon a time, video games had a tendency to damage big screen TVs because the projectors they used burned in easier than the average TV. TVs that had this issue are probably older than anything you have now and certainly older than any HD set. LCD TVs, LCD projectors and DLP projectors cannot be burned in as far as I'm aware.
i dont trust hdtvs one day they'll take over our civilization and they'll be watching us for entertainment

All systems can cause damage to big screens but only projection ones. But Blu-Ray Players can cause the same damage.
what sort of damage and how can it be caused....

projection tvs can be damaged eventually just by regular use. We had one and the screen eventually developed a yellow grimy tint to it. I'm pretty sure they do screen replacements, but we just chucked it and got a lcd

i follow yeh, but damage is different than expected wear, all projection tvs have a lamp life. x number of hours or so
