Set your Wii on 480i on incompatible TV?

Welp, I just learned the hard way that LCD monitors (via VGA box) CANNOT display the Wii in anything other than 480p.

By switching it to 480i, I was given a black screen and it wouldn't switch back by default. Just my luck.

However, via use of sound and the handy wiimote rumble, I was able to navigate the menus by memory and switch it back to 480p. So for those of you who do this by accident as well, here's a quick little walkthrough straight to the 480p/i menu, if you can't remember like I could.

1.) Reset your Wii. From the Channel screen, (music is identifiable) select the Wii options, which is a small circle in the lower left corner.
2.) From the main options screen, Wii Settings is the right box. (There are only 2 boxes.)
3.) From Wii Settings, "Screen" is the third rectangle down, a little more than halfway down the screen.
4.) From Screen, "TV Resolution" is in the EXACT same spot. Don't move your wiimote around at all, just click again.
5.) From TV Resolution, the only 2 boxes are 480p and 480i. 480p is the top box. Select it, then select Confirm in the lower right.

What a painful mistake to make. Would have been nice if there was a hardware switch for this or something.

Same thing happens to me but when i move my wii to the basement to play in 480p and bring back it back to my small sdtv that also has component input i sometimes forget to change back to 480i in wii settings so i just put in the composite cables.

Unfortunately, I don't own a regular TV, so switching back to the composite cables wasn't an option for me. D'oh!
