I don't leave it on idle ( standby ) when i am not playing it. I always unplug it.

I guess im just paranoid about it over heating

but other ideas are, making sure it doesn't get to hot,dont smoke around it, make sure the air vents are clear, and that the room that you are keeping it in is not to dusty

thats about it
