Yellow Light?
When the power is on the light is green, when it is off it is supposed to be red. However, mine is yellow now when I turn it off and I can't find anything that tells me what that means.

I saw it turn blue too, I get it now. Thanks for your help! I just wanted to make sure it wasn't some kind of error light. How do I turn it off of standby if need be?

If you hold down the power button again when it's on standby, it will turn red and the system will shut down completely.
However, you should also know that if you turn the Wii off completely, the USB ports lose power too, so if you're using a lighted dock or charger or anything, they will turn off as well. The Wii has to be in standby mode to keep them powered.

Since my question is similar to this thread; is it safe to hold down the power button like that? I wasn't too sure.
What I usually do is go to the options every time to turn Wiiconnect24 off.
I know that sounds crazy. I get into such a habit for that, because when I do leave it on standby, the Wii seems to get pretty warm.

Wiis get nowhere near dangerous temperatures, even if left on for long periods of time.

You know, I've always kept mine in standby mode, and also noticed that it would get warm. I leave it lying on it's side instead of vertical so I always noticed that the top would feel warmer than normal. It's reassuring to find out that it's not common for it to overheat. I hate not being able to know when I have new messages on my wii! lol

picked up a new wii on tuesday night. just noticed last night while playing mario kart, that the area around where you insert the disk - is glowing blue while the game is being played. however, it continually changes by getting brighter and then going dimmer back and forth. this continues even when i leave the game and go back to the wii menu. what does this mean? tia

i don't have wiiconnect24 set to on. what i'm seeing is during game play and it isn't blinking. the blue light continually goes from a dim state to a bright state back and forth kind of in a power surge like fashion. thanks for your input skippy, anything helps.

You have a message.
The "blinking" the manual indicates is actually the fade in and out of the blue light that you are seeing. Go to your message area and once you read the message, the light will go off. You can also force the light to be off at all times if you want. Instructions for that are in the manual.

Yea, and also you don't always have to be connected to get messages either. Sometimes the game you're playing sends you stuff. Like on Super Mario Galaxy that toad that sends you messages about Luigi and what not.
