SD Card only works when I hold it in...
Normal Wii:
You put an SD card in the SD card slot and let go, the SD card locks into place and works perfectly.
My Wii:
I put an SD card in the SD card slot and hold it all the way in, so it does not come out that few millimeters when it locks into place, only then is it recognized. If I push the SD card in and let go it will not be recognized by the system...
Uhm.. system is OOW so I figure I could possibly open it up and try to fix it myself but last ditch option IMO. I have never heard of this type of thing happening ever and I swear I have searched everywhere... I called Nintendo and they were like 'WTF thats weird, lol' (not exactly in those words).
I'm omgwtfbbq confused, someone plz help moi.

Bad Wii or bad SD card. Have you tried another card?

I have tried several other cards - and if I click the SD card into place and let it go it go the Wii does not read the card. However, if I hold the SD card in as far as it will go into the Wii then it works perfectly.

You have a bad SD connector then. You need to get your Wii sent in for repair.

Since it seems to do that with other SD cards, then it sound like the SD card slot itself is messed up on your Wii.

I am already out of warranty, as I said in the original message.
If it is going to cost me the same amount of money to fix it regardless of whether I open it or not, then why don't I go inside and try to fix it? It could just be as simple as a piece of the connector slid back and needs to be jarred forward, any ideas?

It still needs repair, whether in-warranty or out of warranty. I confess I had no idea what you meant by "OOW" but it doesn't change things. It's broken.

Because no one said it'll cost the same. In fact, if you followed the link I provided, Nintendo explicitly says, "The payment options and pricing will depend on the type of repair selected."
You also have the chance that Nintendo will just fix it for free, if it's out of warranty. It's not unheard of for small things or issues that are common design issues even for in-warranty stuff.

Could be simple, could be complex. And unless you have technical repair skills, the right specialized tools, a steady hand, and an ESD grounding mat, you could easily make things worse by taking it apart.

I got the tech. knowledge to open up the Wii, but anyways, I had previously called Nintendo and they said it would cost ~$70 to fix the problem. But really, it is just an inconvenience (not worth $70 imo) to have to hold in the SD Card while I'm using it with the Wii.

Tape? Tape something down so that it applies pressure to the SD card in the slot. Thats all I can think of other than sending it in.
