What are you connecting to your Wii that you need more than 2 ports?

furthermore, what exactly can be used via the usb connection? i dont think i've heard of anything that's compatible just yet, with the exception of a keyboard.

My understanding is the implementation is a standard USB 2.0 spec, so from a low-level/hardware perspective, there's no reason it wouldn't work. Now further upstream at the "OS" level, I would figure it would work too, but that's less certain (since there's aren't enough USB peripherals to test it out!).

If this is to get a bunch of USB ports for charging things like phones, I'd just plug 'em into the wall.

Then again, I suppose you could have:

- USB/Wireless adapter for a KB
- USB powered remote charger
- USB powered other-misc-doodad (cooler? Swell LED lights?)

The only officially-supported devices are a keyboard and the LAN adapter. Everything else is just tapping into the voltage off the USB port for power. The irony there is, if you're going to buy a powered hub for these sorts of devices, it doesn't even need to be plugged into the Wii since you're only using it for power... thereby gaining you another USB port (the one on the back of the Wii you don't need to plug the hub into).

I’ve got 4 rechargeable batteries for my Wii that connects from usb port to the battery. Then I got my “Wii Cooler” but yes if I just get the hub I can use it for the power alone… just wanted to see if anyone tried it.

1.) Rechargable battery packs/powered Wii stands
2.) USB keyboards
3.) LAN adapter
4.) VGA boxes

All logical uses for the USB ports.
