I just bought a PAL Wii in a duty-free shop in Heathrow Airport on my way back home to the US. Somewhere high over the North Atlantic I realized a few things: it was going to take more than a voltage converter to make this work in the US, I can't hook it up to an American NTSC TV and it will be difficult to return it to that little shop located in Terminal 5 Departures beyond security. Since then I have discovered that there are other problems. Nintendo informs me that they won't help me and all I can do is return it.

The Wii is also region-locked. You can't play Wii games made for other regions. The games you buy in the USA won't work.

Sell it on eBay and chalk up your loss as a lesson learned.

I think it'll work on an NTSC TV .. .. .. you can set the output to 60Hz so that shouldn't be a problem.. .. .. buy a replacement power lead from the US so that it will work with 110v .. .. .. but .. .. .. and this is the killer .. .. EU only for the games (more expensive than the USA with the exchange rate) or a freeloader so you can play US games on your EU Wii.

Way too much trouble to get it to work. Put it up for auction on ebay UK and get a US one. They are becoming easier to obtain now.
