Wii Component & surround sound

Hi all,

I have done a search but cannot find what I am looking for.

I have a Sony Bravia LCD KDL-403500D tv & HT-SF1100 5.1 surround sound system.

Today I bought the Nintendo Component cable for my Wii.

What I want to know is how to connect the Wii to the Amp? I don't think that component cable is long enough, if this is what I need to do, for the red and white ended cables to go straight into my amp, if not I do have plenty of those connectors on the back of my tv.

Also what settings do I set on the amp and the Wii for best sound?

You can always seperate the cables.. to do so.. take a pair of scissors through the block looking thing that connects all the cables together at the end point, and just seperate as so.. Like a pair of headphones.

Just get stereo extension cables to connect to the red/white audio connectors that are on the Wii cable.

The Wii can only output Dolby Pro Logic II at best - I would assume your amp would know how to deal with that.

I think any stereo can handle the Wii.

I have an old (but reliable) Sansui 210 receiver and it works fine with the wii.

I would recommend some extenders like Skippy said. They're pretty cheap.

Well thanks guys, I could do that, but can i not plug all the cables in the tv from the nintendo component cable, then run one of those additional red/white ended cables from my tv into my amp?? Does it make any difference, the amp will deal with it for sure.

What do I set it to on the Wii for this in sound options?

Is your tv already connected to your amp?
If it is, you should be able to connect your wii to your tv and it should work through your amp.
If it isn't, and your tv has an audio out, you can just connect it like you said (Wii to tv; tv to amp)

It all depends if your TV has audio pass through or not and how it handles it. But yes, you would need to run the audio from the Wii into the TV and then the audio out from the TV to the Receiver.

Or do you have an A/V receiver. Mine has component video inputs along with audio and I can switch between multiple a/v sources to a single output to the TV. My Wii only connects to my receiver.

So I have got my Wii setup with component cable, into the tv, then my tv was already plugged into my amp, the amp is happy with this.

I just set my amp to Dolby Pro Logic II, so is that it? Will I get sound out of all my speakers now? I have Sub Woofer, front left, right, centre, back right & left???
