Nyko Kama Wireless Nunchuck First Look - My Review
I pre-ordered a Gold limited edition Nyko wireless Kama nunchuck when it became available. I was in the market for another chuck, and the Nyko Kama seemed like a decent one to try out. Normal ground shipping, and it arrived quickly.
For the last 3 hours, I have been playing games with it after receiving it today.
First look at the packaging, normal clam-shell design begging to be pried open.
For a limited edition, there are no #XofX on the box, but it's no big deal. Not everything does that. Nothing to complain about from the packaging. Time to open.
Inside comes with the nunchuck, receiver, strap and included batteries. Sided by a wiimote for size comparison. It's practically identical to the normal nunchuck minus the cabling. Power button to turn it on/off, and a sync button on the left. Pretty simple.
Assembled is nothing extraordinary. There's a slot on the bottom of the receiver for the Wiimote's strap to pass through, and everything fits together nicely, with the matching thick straps.
The Z and C buttons are jeweled and etched in, looking very nice. Even better than the A button on the Wiimote.
Now that everyone knows what we're looking at on to the game play. For my test games I picked Wii Sports Boxing, The Godfather Blackhand Edition and Spiderman 3 due to varying motion controls, fighting, and driving available in these choices.
The chuck did require syncing initially, but all following games did not require that once it knew what to communicate with. First was Boxing. I hadn't played boxing in a while and was fairly rusty. Even so, the Wiimote and nunchuck both responded equally to my swings, and I noticed no lag between the two looking specifically for it. After getting beaten up a couple times I went on to Godfather.
Godfather was quite enjoyable. Driving with the chuck's pad was easy, responded fluidly with no further lag. Punching people with left/right combos, all the way up to executions were flawless and responded very well. I got engaged in the game and ended up spending an hour playing around. Eventually I moved on to Spider-man 3 for the full motion swinging test.
Once in Spider-Man 3 I finally felt free with the Kama nunchuck to swing around the city. When paying attention to not having a cord I really did notice a difference. Swinging left and right hands was still fluid and operated as well as the previous games. Again I started having fun just playing the game and after a while I forgot I was even using the wireless nunchuck and had fun swinging around the city and beating up fruit-pie thiefs, which is what one looks for when changing hardware.
In the end, so far I am happy with my purchase. I eventually didn't notice the difference in controls between the regular hardware and everything seems to work exactly as advertised. I would recommend this to anyone that might benefit or enjoy having less wires. The biggest enjoyment is forgetting about the hardware and just playing the game. 10/10. Well done, Nyko.

wires are not a big deal for me
but for the more casual gamers in my fam and my girl...
it would be a good buy.

Yea wires aren't that big of a deal to me either, but I needed another chuck and why not go wireless. It sounded like fun and having the cool color with the gold duck was a bonus. I only had two others, and they've been permanently fixed in my zapper and fishing rod for a while now. The best part about it is not noticing it.
I added a pic of the limited paper that came with it.

I've been following this for a while, I am defiantly getting one, I've needed a second Nunchuk since I got WiiPlay. I thought about preordering for a black one I didn't want to pay shipping and how the base of the analog stick is still white throws me off, the white one will go with the Wiimote better. This will really help in several games where the cord gets in the way.

They should start hitting stores next week. Ground shipping was 5.75, the total came up to $40.75, and shipping took about 4 days to get to me.

It'd definitely be cool to have a wireless nunchuk, but the big thing stopping me is having YET ANOTHER set of batteries.
2 per Wiimote is enough. To have 2 more per nunchuk is just getting ridiculous.
If Nintendo made a wireless nunchuk that had a rechargable battery pack inside, or was powered by the wiimote's batteries, I'd probably pick it up.

There really is no way for a wireless nunchuck to be powered by the Wiimote, that's what the cord is also for.
Just do what I did, I bought an Energizer rechargeable battery set that came with a four battery charger, 8 AA rechargeable batteries, and 4 AAA rechargeable batteries. Enough for 4 Wiimotes and 2 Kama Nunchucks, and you'll never need to spend money for batteries for your Wii controllers ever again.

I too have a healthy supply of rechargeable batteries. I think it's best. If you keep them in rotation you never even have to worry about the charging time. Also with the rechargeables that are built in to the controllers, those work alright but when the internal battery finally goes bad you usually need a custom, hard to find rechargeable type, or to just buy another controller like it. With the wiimote/kama all you need are AAs and AAAs which are pretty standard.

I was under the impression that the batteries for the wireless nunchuk went into the little transmitter station that plugs into the wiimote.
If they go into the nunchuk itself, then you're right, I'm stupid.

Well, I thought i'd be the guinea pig and order one.
Arrived the next day.
Initial thoughts.
Well packaged and presented. The pics dont really do it justice, Its alot more white then the pics show.
Nunchuck is fairly light and has the on / off switch on the side along with a sync remote.
The adaptor fits in the botom of the remote, just press the button on the nunchuk and it stnc buttona and off you go.
I never charged it before I used it and it only lasted a few hours. I charged it up over night using my pc USB and its been fine all day today with several hours use from the kids.
Playing the games with it seems much easier as your not tied together, I used to get a bit over excited and have the cable flapping around all over the place.
Dont know if its any help to anyone but I also found this coupon code when I was searching the net for homeworldz..
10% off - MO10%
That gives you £2.50 off plus 24 points towards you next purchase which is just over £1.

Is the wireless nunchuk better than the wireless adaptor?
