Blue light on the disc drive after powering down Wii

Hi. I am wondering if someone can explain why this happened.

I played SMG last night and decided to stop playing. I went back to the Wii menu screen, took out SMG and then pressed the power button so that it turned yellow (which means I am connected to Wii-Connect).

I thought it was all good and went to sleep. When I woke up the next morning I noticed that the Wii power button was still yellow, but the disc slot was glowing in blue as if there was a disc inside. I pressed the eject button to take out the disc, but nothing came out, obviously because there was no game in there.

My question is: Why did the disc slot turn blue when there was no disc and the system was powered down? I really don't remember if it was like that before I went to bed, but I noticed it when I woke up.

Also, the yellow light doesn't mean you're connected to WiiConnect. It means the system is in standby mode.

No, it glows red if you're in standby, it glows yellow/orange when you're in standby and WiiConnect24.

As for the blue glow, like already said, you most likely have a message that is unread or something similar.

Like the others have said it's a message on your message board .. .. .. it could be a letter from Luigi if you've been playing SMG.

You're right! It was Nintendo Channel. I am downloading it now. I wonder if it's worth it. I read info about the special Mii Channel and Everybody Votes and thought they weren't worth it.

My system is in standby 24/7, and I don't have online access on my Wii. The light is yellow.
