Compatible LAN Adapters

I was wondering if any USB-LAN adapter for PC could also work with Wii as well, or are there some that are compatible with Wii, and others that aren't? Anyone know? Thanks.

this is actually a bit of a pain in the ass question...

i remember when these first starting circulating, newegg was a seller that was often mentioned... they sold an adapter which seemed to vary in success, some said it worked, some said it didnt (and this was the same product)

in that sense its hard to say..

if you are buying one it would be safer to go for one listed as compatible with the wii... but at the same they will often carry a slight premium in price because of it, and they are essentially the same thing

You might want to consider just going with wireless instead. Less headaches and much cleaner.

Here's a refurb'd linksys for almost the same price as the Nintendo adapter:

i have a wireless router, but i get horrible connection as my Wii is downstairs and the router is upstairs. Moving the devices is out of the question. I already run an ethernet cable from the upstairs window to the downstairs window for my 360. That's why i wanted an ethernet adapter.

wireless range extenders could solve the problem. every router manufacturer should have a compatible extender.

What brand is your wireless router? In addition to extender, you may set up bridge with 2 or more wireless routers. I have 4 running at home (2 on second floor, one on first, one in the basement). It not only increased the coverage, you got an access point to hook up a print server. Two of my routers have built-in print server. You may easily find a wireless router cheaper than the LAN adapter.

thats the thing... if there was a wide compatibility, the LAN adapter could only cost peanuts..
