I personally like the balance board but think Wii Fit is ok. If I could have paid 59.99 just the balance board then I would have gone that route.
I do think Wii Fit has some good ideas especially concerning balance. It does accurately measure your posture and other things that can help you.
However, I just dont see people losing a ton of weight with Wii Fit because it is a videogame and I use that term losely. It is designed for exercising. How bad is it that the running part is to put the Wiimote in your pocket and jog in place? How exciting does that sound?
I just dont think Wii Fit will help anyone that is not motivated to get in better or shape or lose a few pounds. I dont see Wii Fit being as good as a treadmill, elyptical, or exercise bike as those all produce better cardio workouts which in turn will get people in better shape.
I personally think the best part of Wii Fit is that it will tell a lot of poeple how overweight they are. It will be a shock to someone who thinks they need to lose 10lbs when Wii Fit tells them they are Obese and need to lose 40lbs. You do have to understand BMI Is not for everyone but is fairly accurate for most people.
I really think the shock value of finding out how overwright people are will do more than the mini games, yoga, and aerobics that Wii Fit have.
And yes I am sure there will be success stories on the net how people lost weight with Wii Fit. If you do a workout 4-5 days a week for at least 30 minutes with Wii Fit then you will lose weight! I just think Wii Fit will go the way of most treadmills and will collect dust for the majority of people.

Respond in 3 months and tell us how much you are using it. I just question the amount of time most people will use Wii fit.
Keep in mind, I am only talking about Wii Fit. There might be games that make the balance board great.

well Wii Fit is only about 100, tax included, while u can pay up to 500 for a treadmill or bike. Wii Fit is alot more comact then a treadmill, unless its for ur mouse.
BUT, i do agree with the idea that an treadmill will give u a better workout then Wii Fit. it will probly be old in about 3 months or so, but heyy, its somthing that PS3 and XboX 360 dont have

I think anything that gets people off the couch even for 10 mins a day for 3 months is better than nothing at all. This is a real break through for home gaming and of course there will be failures along the way, the sheer volume of sales does have to point out that people are looking for changes when it comes to entertainment at home, I feel it is a good thing.

I am not disputed it will do people some good. I am just arguing that the majority people will not use Wii Fit after a couple of weeks on a regular basis.
I still contend that full fledged games that are designed to be fun would do better than the Wii Fit software. Mini games, Yogs, and Push ups is not much of a game.
We Ski is good but to be honest, it does not give people heavy workouts because the controls are pretty much turning left and right with your balance.
Hopefully there will be some creative developer that makes a game that is loads of fun using the balance board that gives people a heavy workout even if they dont realize it because it has fun.
Some people were claiming they were losing weight with Wii Sports. If that is the case then the people seriously lacked getting any type of exercise. I loved wii Sports and the games are great fun but outside the boxing, to label it exercise is a stretch. Yes it is better than sitting on a couch.

I've been using it. I like the helpful tips it gives us along the way. For instance, this past weekend I was gone and unable to use Wii Fit. When I came back I did some exercises and then a body test, and realized that I gained weight. It asked me what I had done differently, and I responded "Late Night Dinners". My girl did the same thing but responded with "I dont know." It gave us different tips for what we responded on why we gained weight. So now, if we keep using it, we'll keep that in mind as we go throughout our daily routines, and hopefully it'll make an impact.
As far as losing a lot of weight on it, no I probably won't. But I do want to kind of use it as a springboard for getting into shape. It'll probably end up being my warm up/warm down before/after I do a real workout.
Plus, some of the games are just plain fun!

I am using it for two things. One as a scale and I plug in how much exercise I do. Also, I do use the Yoga a little and balance exercises to help build core muscles which my cardio exercise does not help much.
I have two bad discs in my back but refuse to have them replaced because the surgery sucess rate is not good and the recoop time is generally over 10 weeks and many people are worse off after the surgery.
I have decieded to take the route of using exercise to build up core muscle and take pressure off the spine as every little bit helps. I am finding usefulness out of Wii Fit.
I still dont think anyone that didnt exercise before Wii Fit will use this more than any other exercise equipment on acerage.
Whoever said that the Wii Fit is only $100 needs to think about the total cost. You have to pay $250 for the Wii plus tax first so you are looking at $350. You can buy good exercise equipment for 350 especially from places like play it again sports and such that sell used (but many times barely used) exercise equipment.

well when i first saw it i also thought it would be horrible, but apparrently its not that bad. i just dont like how nintendo focused the wii onto more energetic kind of thing rather than their first wii 'concept' which was to play together. unless you know, the wii fit can be uses with two balance boards.

One of the key personal at Nintendo use to write down his weight every day. He would look at his weight and try to figure out why he gained or lost weight. He took that concept it and told Nintendo they are going to make a video game off that.
Nintendo is trying to reach out to different markets and different people.
I give them credit for doing things right even with my personal issues I have with Wii Fit. It is a good start. Now if they can figure out a way to fix the firmware where the Wii can use two balance boards at once then we really have a chance for some great titles based off the Balance Board which are both fun and healthy.
