Hey all,

I just picked up a Gamecube Wavebird Wireless controller for $10 - so I am pretty happy with that.... I also picked up Mario Strikers (Gamecube).

Now, I know that I have to use the wii remote to actually start the GC games, then the GC controller takes over - that's fine.

However, I noticed that when I am done, I can't use the wii remote to power down the console like normal - i have to hit the actual power button on the wii...

Does the wii remote totally disconnect itself like that - even for power sakes?

Just making sure.... That would be nice if it did power it down - then I wouldn't have to bother going over to the console at all!

Thanks,

Matt!

This happens for me as well, I always figured it was to conserve batteries. It sucks you can't reconnect to turn off the system though

This is normal. What is so hard about standing up and pushing the power button? That is why god gave us hands and feet.

When playing GC games the Wii basically becomes a Gamecube. Thus support for the Wii controllers no longer exsists. Anything the Cube was capable of doing the Wii can but not vice versa

Hey,

Thanks for the answer. In addition, it's not a matter of laziness by any means - I just thinks it's cool how the wii power can be controlled via the remote, and was simply curious if that extended to the GC functionality at all.

Matt!

I have always wondered if it's possible to have an update that enables control of the wii menu with a gamecube controller. Similar to how you can control it with the classic controller. That would make things easier since you wouldn't need to even power up the wii remote to play a GC game.

^yeah, i would like that too.

but when you start playing a gc game, it's pretty much you are playing a gamecube, so the wiimote has no use.
