Wii Classic Controller

Im going to buy a wii later this week and I went ahead and bought one of the classic controllers and I have a few questions. I noticed the cord isn't that long and that its at the bottom of the controller instead of the top so my question is does it hook up to the console or the wiimote? Because it looks like from the pictures on the front of the box it goes to the wiimote... And if it does hook up to the wiimote, is it possible for one of my friends to still use that wiimote so we can be play together or do I need another controller for them to use?

Wii remote is what it hooks to.

No you cannot use it and the Wii remote at the same time. Is uses the Wii Remote for Blutooth connection to the console.

it connects to the bottom of the wiimote,
