Most people these days already have a DVD player, so there's no need to have another device that also play DVD with no extra benefit. It would be different if the Wii could provide upscaled DVDs, but unfortunately that's not the case. I know that having the Wii also play DVDs could be one less thing in the entertainment center, but I've never found playing DVDs on game consoles to ever be that user-friendly, imo.
Meanwhile, there are dozens of very long threads where this is discussed and debated in graphic detail. You might want to try doing a search before starting new threads on frequently-asked questions.

and theirs a big argument on this because people say that it should and people say it shouldnt because dvd players are cheap and lots of people have them. but i think it should
