Just about everything in your post refers to something illegal or illegitimate. I doubt anyone here will help you.
My only suggestion would be to purchase an unmodded wii and a legal copy of the game.
It's disturbing that an uncle would accept such things from his nephew.

noone here will help, and this thread will get locked b/c this is a case of copyright infringement.
if his wii worked fine before he updated via NHL, then it seems that the update has done something.
also, was the dvd of good quality? did you burn at a low speed?
