Wii Region Lock

Hi all..

From all I have read on the net, I've gathered that Wii is region-locked after all. (so the US VP made a false statement)

Now, I'm in PAL (Europe) region and I understand that to play a Wii game bought in US, I also need an US Wii console (NTSC).
That's not a problem for me since I'm planning to import both the console itself and the games from US.
But the question is, will a Wii console bought from US work with European TVs? Does the region lock only cover game-console compability (US games for US consoles), or does it extend to televisions as well?

Thanks in advance..

I got like a whole heap of them lying around the house, so that's perfectly OK as long as the TV thing works
