I have only been to Wal Mart once, and I didn't notice that. Maybe I should go check it out. Except I don't have an XBox. Oh, well. That would be cool if they did free updates. And, I agree. It just takes time. I think they will eventually come out with some really cool stuff. I wonder if they come to places like this to see what people think and what the people want????

I agree mostly with the "Added features" idea.
It's always great to throw in a couple of ports here and there that are still modern and "up to date" in current technology since you'll never know what Nintendo will suddenly come up with.. and you can't expect everyone to buy a new Wii just for added USB ports... so they put it their for the obvious and the unexpected I guess.

The USB stands for Universal Serial Bus. Essentially they connect any external USB device that the Wii can be connected to. For now you can connect the USB
Nintendo connector plus a USB to Ethernet cable to connect to a DSL or Cable modem and connect to the Internet and Will Channels. 3rd party manufacturers
could develop any number of devices to connect to the USB port. If you have modem with a USB connection, you could connect the WII to the modem with USB to USB cable. Nintendo could develop an external hard drive, DVD drive,
that could be connected to the USB port. For now, it's a way of connecting to a DSL or Cable modem, if you don't want or can't get the wireless connection to work.
