Yes, sadly the only thing you can do is trade Friend Tokens online, and that does seem to work for some of us. <.<

I was playing MP Hunters online the other night, it made me think that Nintendo really missed an opportunity there. If Nintendo put together an online only version of MP3 I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I don't think that would be a good idea. It wouldn't sell without a story mode. Just wish for the MP4 to contain all the online modes.
