can I use the wii wifi usb connector to create a home network between 2 computers?

Not if you have the official Nintendo connector, no - it only works with the Wii and DS. I think some unofficial connectors such as WifiMax can also be used for computers and other devices with wifi, though.

he means that both the wii and the ds can be hooked to the internet via the wireless wifi usb connector

The usb connector works of comps, but it is horribly slow. Just goto ebay and buy a $3 china made 802.11g usb adapter, these also work with the nintendo wii as well.
